Fishing has been utilized since the Mesolithic period. However, with an ever-expanding human population so too must our global fishing practices more responsibly evolve. What may have been prudent is now an ill-gotten act of global irresponsibility.

This is SO not necessary! WHY do we constantly have to petition governments to do the right thing! I guess this says a great deal about the nastiness of human beings! i am embaressed to be one!

Thanks Deb, I wish someone would take responsibility for the doings on the Faroe Islands, Denmark just seems to ignore the whole thing. Seashepherd were there a while ago, and something must happen to stop it surely, this just cant be allowed to continue in this day and age, someone must pull them into the twenty first century for goodness sakes!

Thank you for posting your informed and well - written article. Had sent email to prime minister a couple of weeks ago, and both petitions signed. There are two petitions below the video and email to prime minister to send. Keep scrolling down. 1 from change.org petition, and one from unleashed Australia. If there are others, I did not see but will check back. And no, can't watch video, but thank you for posting it.

Additional to 2 petitions and email to prime minister, you can also send email to Faroe Island tourist board ( tourist@tourist.fo) to let them know that you and your family won't ever visit the Faroe Islands whilst they support the killing of whales and dolphins.

Thanks Deb. Signed petition..I wrote to the Danish Government ( who are responsible for the Faroes) last year about dolphin slaughter.
Their reply was truly pathetic. All about traditional ( tradition being the excuse for doing something evil because it gas always been done), the economy, government supervision. All the slick words of spin doctors.
I always thought that Denmark stood tall as an enlightened nation, but it clearly has a very dark side.

Under the video feed you will find a sample letter with email for Prime Minister below that there are links to different petition areas. To better find them seek out the different colored text within the page. I selected this link for the abundance of information found there to include video, email, letter suggestion, and petitions. I hope this helps with navigating the page. Thanks to all!

What kind of brutal barbarians do you want the world to see you as ? The video and photographs are horrific and make your citizens look like crazed, heartless, soulless brutes, without compassion or respect for life. These whales do no harm, and are defenceless against such a bloodthirsty and inexcusable onslaught. Disgusting, outdated and barbaric. Shame on all who participate, and all who allow it.
petitions signed.
deeply disturbing and unspeakably sad.

Thanks for sharing. Noted and signed all the petitions involved.

People may talk about tradition and economy, but I will never understand the killing of not only these majestic whales. It is possible and easy to come up with many pretexts if it serves somebody's purpose, but it takes a will and efforts to make a positive change. Some people have in them so much of pure disrespect for the natural and animal world that the thought of it hurts as much as the sight and result of their deeds. In fact, we are connected with all the surrounding life and it is unspeakably sad to see anybody keeping their callous distance and indifferently adding to the misery of the world.
