Sen. Barack Obama said Wednesday he would give Al Gore, a Nobel prize winner, a major role in an Obama administration to address the problem of global warming. I will make a commitment that Al Gore will be at the table and play a central part

Why can't Obama find his own people to surround his well intended presidency...why must he use Clinton people; could it be because Obama lacks substance and can't represent the postion with genuine integrity because he has "no" life experience of his own. Gore belongs with Hillary; I don't buy this one bit; it's just another way to win votes and make himself look good because isn't that what he's good at. He's such a self serving, arrogant elitest who calls himself a Democrat. He has no idea what "poor" is and what it's like to live in poverty but I'm sure he'll find someone who "can" advise him on what's it's like because isn't that what good president's do....hire the best...blah...

Either of the Democratic nominees should make an all out effort to get Al Gore to be their vice presidential running mate. Al Gore may not be interested, but he should be given the opportunity by Barak or Hillary. If Barak wins the nomination, I for one, would only vote for him if Gore was his running mate. Hillary is the best choice that our country has to get us where we need to be, whether it be the economy, war, or just the respect that our United States deserves as a Super Power nation. Many people say that our country is not ready for a female president. My response is that women manage everything much better than men. How many single parent homes are ran by a man? How many athletes do you hear say that their greatest thanks is to their MOM. Think about it folks. Please, lets give Hillary a chance. Look what Margaret Thatcher did for Great Britain. George W. Bush has taken our nation to a place that, in my opinion, only a woman can get us out. If, as Barak Obama says, we need change, then lets allow the change to be a woman that will not only be a great experienced leader, but a SUPER MOM for us all!

Obama isn't trying to get Al Gore for his presidenial running mate he wanted him for a major role in his administration to address the problem of global warming. Who said that Al Gore was for Hillary and not Obama or if he said who he was for.

I said Gore was for Hillary and I am someone, I'm me. What I was referring to was that if you take a look at who Obama has on his campaign staff and now with his statement about hiring Gore "when" he is president to deal with global warming issues - I'm just wondering why he can't find his own people and why he doesn't come out with his own position on how he's going to deal with global warming....is it because he doesn't have one and want's Gore's plan to be his plan. Obama is all about glory and looking good - a man without substance. I am completely turned off to his glamourous rheteric and I'm not falling prey to his antics. My vote goes to Hillary, at least she has some substance and life experience as unglamourous as it is but you know what....I think the lot of us can relate to her and what she's been through, I can't relate to an elitist Democrat who was born with a silver spoon his mouth. Did you know that he went to a very expensive prep school in Hawaii which cost thousands of dollars, more than what most make in a year, and the majority of kids who graduate there are Republican. If superdelegate Inouye can say he's supporting Hillary, one should ask why. I know why, it's because Obama comes from wealth, do you?

These are CLONES of "Sustainable Earth", who has HIJACKED THE GREEN PARTY on Care2 and turned it into a party to attack Obama.

The NEOCONS, of which "she" is a supporter, are REALLY AFRAID OF OBAMA because he is so popular with the American people! especially young people!
So, THE NEOCONS ATTACK OBAMA EVERY WAY THEY CAN.

The NEOCON CLONES only are PRETENDING to be either Democrats, or Green Party supporters. THEY THINK THEY ARE FOOLING US THAT WAY!
They are PRETENDING to be Clinton supporters, and anti-Bush. Because they know that resonates with us.

If you go to the Green Party group here on Care2, you find CONSTANT ATTACKS ON OBAMA JUST LIKE THESE.
Some of them are even worse, are vicious racist attacks straight out of right-wing propaganda, vicious cartoons, suggestions Obama is a "secret Muslim" and all sorts of b.s. like that.

Well, I AM ONE OF THE FOUNDING MEMBERS OF THE GREEN PARTY IN THE STATE OF WASHINGTON; AND I CAN TELL YOU, THAT ATTACKING OBAMA OR ANY OTHER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, IS NOT AND NEVER WILL BE, A PART OF GREEN PARTY VALUES.
We REAL Green Party members, focus on the Positive, not on attacks.
YOU CAN SEE PLAINLY, THAT ONLY THE NEOCON REPUGS, AND NOT ANY DEMOCRATS, BENEFIT FROM SUCH ATTACKS.

ALL the above people, are CLONES OF ONE SINGLE PERSON.
They should be dealt with like the FAKES they are: Flag profiles!
Furthermore, THEY ARE BEING PAID BY THE FAR RIGHT, TO MAKE THESE ATTACKS ON OBAMA, WHOM THE FAR RIGHT FEARS MORE THAN ANYTHING.

If you want to know what the REAL Green Party is like, join THE GREEN PARTY:TEN KEY VALUES on Care2. THAT is the REAL Green Party here.

Yes, folks, IT IS VERY COMMON FOR PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET TO POSE AS WHAT THEY ARE NOT.
These CLONES all of the same person, are SETTING UP A FAKE "DIALOGUE" AMONG "ITSELF" to LOOK LIKE CLINTON SUPPORTERS. They must be LAUGHING AT US FOR OUR GULLIBILITY! if we BUY that as REAL!!!

It was MONTHS AGO that the NeoCons who infiltrated some Care2 groups, started saying "I'm against Bush". Because UNLESS THEY SAID THAT, they KNEW they'd have NO credibility whatsoever!!!

Boy, this is SOOOO TRANSPARENT!!!!!!!!
By the way, not that it matters much here, Obama DOES have experience with poverty -- was a Community Organizer on Chicago's South Side, went to the exclusive Hawaiian school ON A SCHOLARSHIP {because he's BRILLIANT}, and DID have direct experience with poverty in the third-world country he spent most of his childhood in {Indonesia}.

THESE CLONES, OR RATHER I SHOULD SAY THIS ONE SINGLE CLONE WITH MULTIPLE FAKE IDENTITIES, ARE TRYING TO DREAM UP ANYTHING THEY CAN TO USE AGAINST OBAMA -- TRUE OR FALSE. THEY FIGURE WE ARE STUPID AND NEVER DO ANY RESEARCH. YOU DON'T HAVE TO ACTUALLY BE AN OBAMA SUPPORTER TO SEE THRU THEIR BLATANT LIES. YOU CAN BE FOR THIRD-PARTY OR GREEN CANDIDATES OR FOR NOT VOTING, ETC., AND STILL SEE THAT THEY ARE LYING ABOUT OBAMA. FOR A PURPOSE. THE PURPOSE OF THE PEOPLE PAYING THEM TO TELL SUCH LIES.

Oh by the way, the subjects they attack Obama on -- THEY GET THESE DIRECTLY AS "TALKING POINTS" FROM THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE HEADQUARTERS. These are INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN OUT to go to MANY Internet sites and SAY THE SAME THINGS. Yup, TALKING POINTS.

OK, I TAKE IT BACK, *DON'T* FLAG 'EM!
LET THE WHOLE WORLD SEE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE PROPAGANDA IN ACTION!!!!!!
LET IT ALL BE OUT HERE!
DON'T FLAG! LET'S SEE WHAT THE CLONES DO NEXT!

Hasn't Hillary caused enough embarrassment to herself and her supporters, with all her lies ? Or do those lies simply serve to prove her 'experience' in doing what politicians do best, namely lie !

How can supposedly "Green" people support a candidate who has buddied up with Monsanto ? Don't people remember that under Bill's presidency, former Monsanto executives were given seats on US regulatory agencies ? Monsanto and the biotech firms are the greatest and most dangerous threat to biodiversity AND democracy in our world - How can anyone claim to be a supporter of Green causes and not deal with THAT ?

Only the latest example of the danger is in a front-page post at the moment: http://www.care2.com/news/member/597720583/703050

"Globalization-American Songbirds Are Being Wiped Out By Banned Pesticides"

The death of songbirds resulting from the extensive use of toxic pesticides & chemicals in Latin Am export agriculture(fruit&vegies). They're distributed by the same biotech corps that produce GMO seeds & are used to sustain production of specific GMO varieties.

http://www.care2.com/news/member/597720583/703050

'Global warming' sounds more and more like a one-note samba. What about GMOs, toxic pesticides, seed sovereignty, and biodiversity ? And the Monsanto police that patrols American farming regions and intimidates farmers ?

What about freedom of expression and freedom of academic pursuit and the freedom to release scientific findings - Monsanto systematically infringes on these, with total impunity. They have systematically had scientists fired from their jobs, when the results of their studies would have pointed to serious public health risks. Monsanto is a threat to democracy.

Not to mention the dirty tricks -
"In 2005, the U.S. authorities concluded that a Monsanto consultant had visited the home of an Indonesian official and, with the approval of a senior company executive, handed over an envelope stuffed with hundred-dollar bills. The money was meant as a bribe to win looser environmental regulations for Monsanto's cotton crops, according to a court document. Monsanto was also caught concealing the bribe with fake invoices.

A few years earlier, in the age of Enron, these kinds of charges would probably have resulted in a criminal indictment. Instead, Monsanto was allowed to pay $1 million and avoid criminal prosecution by entering into a monitoring agreement with the Justice Department." (International Herald Tribune; April 9, 2008)

We mustn't support candidate who are sell-outs to Monsanto !

Well finally we have reached a juncture here; is the Gore issue really about global warming or just a ploy for Obama to get the environmentalist's on board. After all global warming is very real and a very controversial issue; but I do agree that Gore would help whomever because this is a guy who genuinely cares about our world. And on the Obama having experience; well I would have to say in your world vicarious experience counts. I think you should do your research on his upbringing; the prestigious school in Hawaii offers scholarships you are right but only partial ones - no one gets a full ride no matter how brilliant they are; so someone still had to fork out thousands for his experience in going to school on a scholarship; poor dude. And as far as his Indonesian experience well he wasn't exactly there living as they live - in poverty now was he? Maybe he lived there with poverty around him and saw it everyday vicariously but not in poverty; his mother had rich parents.

I really can't understand discrediting Obama because he didn't live the life of a third-world or developing world person in dire poverty when he lived in Indonesia.

If NOT being poor didn't disqualify either Kennedy brother, why should it disqualify Obama ?

Since when has having lived in dire poverty become a prerequisite for running for President in the 'richest country in the world' ?

We have NEVER demanded poverty-level living from any Presidential candidate. The mere idea of it is laughable ! We like proof in their persons that the US is a country where people succeed. Success is of the essence, isn't it ? And the Clintons have certainly proved that point and lived up to expectations in that area.

They make millions, as their tax statement proved, and, since I don't like double standards, why doesn't Leeta disqualify Billary on the same grounds ?

I am much more concerned about the wheeling-&-dealing Clintons than the posh school that Obama went to. Going to a posh school is often called an opportunity. And it is not proof that the person will not have convictions and commitments other than those of the priviledged class !

Even Ernesto Guevara, le Che, grew up in a midddle-class environment, studied medicine and became a doctor - there's no direct experience of dire poverty here ! It was as a young medical student that he embarked on his now-famous trip throughout Latin America and was transformed by the endemic poverty he witnessed. One of the founders of the Egyptian communist party & international activist, Henri Curiel, was the son of a Cairo banker. That did not prevent him from being so deeply moved ad outraged by the living and working conditions of farm workers that he dedicated his whole life to the struggle he thought would best free them. He DID have first-hand experience of Farouk's prisons, though ! Shall we disqualify him, too ?

It seems silly to have to debate here the fact that people can be transformed by experiences that they witness, by their observations, rather than their direct experience.

Are we now going to disqualify Che Guevara as a person dedicated to his ideals of fighting poverty because of his comfortable middle-class background ?

Jill is right on! I appreciate all your very important and insightful points, especially about pesticides, GMOs, Monsanto and Clinton connections to it. As someone who runs an organization, Toxics Information Project (TIP), dealing with these issues (and others connecting environmental factors with health issues) I'm frustrated by the lack of attention they usually get in the mainstream. For just a few articles on this concern, and some past actions of ours, see: www.toxicsinfo.org/playingfields.htm and www.toxicsinfo.org/TIPS_pests.htm

By the way, I also am pleased with your common-sense defense of Obama on the silly comment about his not living in poverty. It is especially ludicrous given the far greater wealth of the Clintons.
