Sorry can not sign this, will need to see evidence as to whats happening. So far all I have seen is Israel fighting for survival in a hostile environment. Dont agree with either side, however having relatives there they have confirmed that A day has not gone by in 6 years that Israel is not rocketed or bombed in some fashion. I see wrongs on both sides, however Israel is the country that all the middle east goes after.

The truth is ALWAYS TAINTED BY A PERSONS PERSPECTIVE! There are no easy answers for this Gordian knot. To this day the Japanese do not write in their history school books that the Japanese lost ww11. How about America sending the west coast Japanese to concentration camps after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. It also was not put into USA school books until the late 80's and it was only perfunctory. the same way we remunerated 2nd and 3rd generation japanese who lost everything they owned when sent to the concentration camps. History is always dictated by the winners of wars. I cannot believe Israel is always the "victim" and the Palestinians always the evil doers. It may work in fairy tales but not in the real world. I signed because if it is true, (and I put nothing above the UK in doing this cruel act of torture) I would rather err on the side of humanity and try to do the right thing. By signing does in no way make me anti Semitic, but oh I do so wish that we could resolve this destructive ongoing hateful killing. All in the name of GOD?

Signed 11,032 - Abdessalam this is disgusting! We know in this country that G4S is a laughing stock - always losing prisoners - would that that could happen over there!

Aurea, just a couple of points - the UK is not torturing people in Israeli gaols - that is the Israelis. G4S is a UK based company who are guarding the gaols and enabling the Iraelis - shame on both of them. Like hundreds of thousands of other companies, such as bakers or grocers or shoemakers.... G4S's actions are its own, they are not the actions of the government of the UK (not that I would put much past our greed orientated Tory govt!). Also, as I knew and Abdessalam has pointed out in another post a while ago, both the Israelis and the Palestinians are Semitic peoples; we want justice and peace for both sides.

The text of the petition reads " As concerned citizens, we call on you to use your upcoming Annual General Meeting to decide to end all contracts with Israel that violate international law. While encouraged by the recent cancellation of some shady security contracts, we urge you to stop supporting the brutal occupation of Palestinian territories and abuse of Palestinian human rights. Both your global reputation and your business are at stake."

The letter is addressing the share holders of a UK based company and has nothing to do with UK as a state. It also has nothing to do with antisemitism . I here assure that both Jews and Arabs, including Palestinians are Semitic.

Aurea Walker, I want to respond to what you wrote about the U.S.sending the west coast Japanese to concentration camps after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The fact is that it was not anything similar to the concentration camps that Jews were put into by the Nazis. In addition the reason why they were kept somewhat restrained was the fact that the Japanese in our country were actually registering their names for a draft by the country of Japan. Even the Japanese who were born in the U.S. were willingly doing that. Then when they received notice that they were being drafted, they willingly responded, went to Japan and joined the Japanese military. This was shocking and frightening and what caused the restraining of the Japanese at that time. Many, many years I saw this information on a P.B.S tv program. At the time this happened, Japan was ruled by some kind of royalty and they (even those in the U.S.) did whatever he wanted them to do. It seems that the media is ignoring that now since today Japan is a very different nation and is a friend of the U.S.

If the company leaves, Israel will have conscript-soldiers resume those security-duties and pulls them off the checkpoints, leaving those places understaffed again. Cutting checkpoints' open-hours and reducing the rate at which they can process people will not help Palestinians. Having conscripts instead of professionals handling security in those places may not do great things for Arabs living in the area either.

I think the human rights of all are equally important. Israel has and continues to be attacked everyday by terrorist that use children to do their killing. NO I still want proof as to what you claim being done is being done. Why we as a so called free thinking caring people do and sign things with out having irrefutable evidence is beyond me. The same as that when we Scream about Bush and Iraq. I conjure that we found no weapons of mass destruction. However there was proof and evidence that a sadistic leader did use those to kill his own people. I think and still believe the facts were wrong on WOMD. However the need to remove him from power was still real and viable. For all those that say we have no business there I say this, in that case we have no business even signing petitions. As my grandfather who was a God loving man once said. I wrote to a bully to stop. It finally stopped when I beat his rear in a fight.

The Israeli-Palestinian balance of brutality
Neither side wants to know how many children from the other side it has killed since 2000. The following is a reminder. From the beginning of the second intifada, which broke out on September 29, 2000, through April 30, 2013, Israel, the occupying power in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, killed 1,373 Palestinian children up to age 18. Of them, 1,045 were killed in Gaza. Out of 427 children 13 and younger, two are listed as having taken part in the fighting in Gaza, and for one it's unknown if he took part. The remaining 424 were not taking part in the fighting when infantry soldiers, pilots, drone operators or tankers killed them. The number of Gaza children age 14 to 18 that the IDF commissioned by the citizens of Israel killed during the same period was 618, 495 of them were not taking part in the hostilities.

Amnesty International report about the torture of Palestinians

1 - Torture of Palestinians under occupation by Israelis is as old as the occupation itself not to mention the terrorist attacks against Palestinians in and before 1948 by the organized Zionist gangs that forced Palestinians to leave their villages, towns, homes, land and properties and turn to be refugees here and there around the world. Physical pressure ( torture ) was always used during interrogations by The GSS (General Security Service/Shabak/Shin Bet). That fact appeared in an official report issued by an official Israeli committee called Landau Commission which was a three-man Commission set up by the Israeli Government in 1987 following a long-running scandal over the deaths of two Palestinian prisoners in custody and the wrongful conviction of a Circassian IDF officer. The Commission, headed by former Supreme Court Justice Moshe Landau, found that the GSS (General Security Service/Shabak/Shin Bet) interrogators routinely used physical force during the interrogation of prisoners and then committed perjury at subsequent trials. In its conclusion, approved by Cabinet in November 1987, it lay down guidelines for the use of a "moderate measure of physical pressure". The details of the recommended methods were described in the classified appendix to the report. In 1994 the UN Committee Against Torture stated: "The Landau Commission Report, permitting as it does 'moderate physical pressure' as a lawful mode of interrogation, is completely unacceptable to this Committee."

2 - In 1968 the International Committee for the Red Cross issued a report on Nablus Prison, one of the IDF's detention centers in the recently captured West Bank. It found:
"1. Suspension of the detainee by the hands and simultaneous traction of his other members for hours at a time until he loses consciousness.
2. Burns with cigarette stubs.
3. Blows by rods on the genitals.
4. Tying up and blindfolding for days.
5. Bites by dogs.
6. Electric shocks at the temples, the mouth, the chest and testicles."
( National Lawyers Guild. 1977 Middle East Delegation. "Treatment of Palestinians in Israeli-occupied West Bank and Gaza: report of the National Lawyers Guild 1977 Middle East Delegation." Ha'aretz misses the fact that it is extremely difficult, and usually impossible, to identify combatants by name without official lists being released, and especially for non-uniformed forces. Only a tiny, tiny minority of combatants are usually ever "listed" as being combatants. I would have to know how Ha'aretz defined its terms before accepting its conclusions about who was fighting and who was not. It sounds terrible to suspect that significant numbers of kids were in arms, but the median ages in Gaza and the West Bank were, at least a few years ago, 17 and 18, and the militias' target-recruits were not exactly the 40-year-old men.

It is very unfortunate, but there are nearly no reliable sources among non-governmental organizations as the vast majority of them clearly took sides in the conflict or discriminated against one group or the other. The International Red Cross, until recently, included subsidiary organizations in every country on Earth except Israel, despite local emergency-service organizations' applications to join. The U.N. reports were and still are much less reliable: In 1975, the U.N. declared Israeli patriotism to be a form of racism. To this day, its investigations specifically exclude conditions in Israel from consideration, and it never built investigative infrastructure .to study problems or abuses within Israel. Amnesty International lost all credibility following the Jenin reporting when, rather than apologize for extensive false reporting, it revealed that it actually does no fact-checking, only broadcasting reports given to it, reliable or not. Normally I wouldn't call large groups of people all habitually unreliable, but Palestinian authorities, at least, have a long history of inflating death-counts. For example, while local reports of Black September had death-counts at about 4,000, Arafat reported 25,000.

Wikipedia on G4S - Controversies

Israel and Palestine -- G4S supplies security equipment and services for use at Israeli prisons, checkpoints and settlements in the West Bank. It also helps to maintain and profit from Israel's prison system. In 2007, the Israeli subsidiary of G4S signed a contract with the Israeli Prison Authority to provide security systems for major Israeli prisons.
... ... ...
** An example:

Death of Jimmy Mubenga

In October 2010, three G4S-guards restrained and held down 46-year old Angolan deportee Jimmy Mubenga on departing British Airways flight 77, at Heathrow Airport. Security guards kept him restrained in his seat as he began shouting and seeking to resist his deportation. Police and paramedics were called when Mubenga lost consciousness. The aircraft, which had been due to lift off, then returned to the terminal.[ Lewis, Paul; Matthew Taylor (18 October 2010). "Jimmy Mubenga death: three men arrested". The Guardian (UK).] Mubenga was pronounced dead later that evening at Hillingdon hospital. [Lewis, Paul; Matthew Taylor (15 October 2010). "Deportation death: 'Jimmy Mubenga was a good man'". The Guardian (UK).] Passengers reported hearing cries of "don't do this" and "they are trying to kill me." Scotland Yard's homicide unit began an investigation after the death became categorised as "unexplained". Three private security guards, contracted to escort deportees for the Home Office, were released on bail, after having been interviewed about the incident. [Lewis, Paul; Matthew Taylor (18 October 2010). "Jimmy Mubenga death: three men arrested". The Guardian (UK).]

In February 2011, The Guardian reported that G4S guards in the United Kingdom had been repeatedly warned about the use of potentially lethal force on detainees and asylum seekers. Confidential informants and several employees released the information to reporters after G4S's practices allegedly led to the death of Jimmy Mubenga. An internal document urged management to "meet this problem head on before the worst happens" and that G4S was "playing Russian roulette with detainees' lives." ["G4S Security was Warned of Lethal Risk to Refused Asylum Seekers". The Guardian. 8 February 2011.] The following autumn, the company once again faced allegations of abuse. G4S guards were accused of verbally harassing and intimidating detainees with offensive and racist language. ["Security Officers Accused of Racially Abusing Asylum Seekers". The Independent. 6 September 2011.]

In July 2012, the Crown Prosecution Service announced its conclusion that there was "insufficient evidence to bring any charges for Mr Mubenga's death" against G4S or any of its former employees. ["CPS decision on death of Jimmy Mubenga". 17 July 2012.]
...
** Nothing fishy here, heh?
