Good news! Care2 and Defenders of Wildlife petitioners and SEN's Condemnation Boycott gained a media boost from ABC's Kimmel and SEN's link-up with Facebook group. Boycott Unilever's Dove soap and Degree deodorant! See Kimmel's black-humor video and more

Our campaign against "Sarah Palin's Alaska" on Discovery's TLC gained momentum over the weekend as the Defenders of Wildlife petition soared past 170,000. Care2 petition counts climbed, Jimmy Kimmel blasted Palin's Alaska on ABC, and SEN gained link-up with a boycott-ready Facebook group. Go to the site to see the video, insure you've signed all petitions including Care2 (there's a link to all) and SEN's condemnation boycott. SEN boycott signers will get email updates as events unfold in coming months. See the list of SEN's "Endangered Discovery Advertisers". Read SEN's warning to Ad Age (the advertising industry's magazine). Learn SEN has called for boycott of Unilever's Dove soap and Degree deodorant, as a warning shot against the bow of the advertisers.

Palin cooks Alaska. Good one, comedy gets the point across.

I've been saying we have power in our personal selves with our own money. As an idividual we may not carry a lot of strength but we do have strength in numbers.

So stand firm and strong with the boycotts and where you choose to spend your money. If you do not, then the Corportate Powers will spend it quickly enough for you, and not always were you want it to go. We do not need to allow the propaganda to continue that this "wolf" killer is good for Alaska or anywhere else on a TV program that promotes the beauty of nature.

Maybe they will realize that the symbol of a dove stands for peace, love and life, not the pathetic renderings of Palin. Having Palin represent Alaska is like having the oil companies repesent the environment, oh, that's right they are the same thing!!!

I told the- Discovery Channel and Cox Inc that I and m any others will pay to have this removed from our viewing line- up, It is sad but seems to be the one way to get attention - punch them in the wallet.
Thanks Gregory. Keep on fighting back any way we can.

I was raised to be a gentelman therefore I will refrain from saying what I think Sarah Palin really is. How long, God pray, must we real Americans endure these ignornantt bigots? John Jay, a devote Angelican, nominated by George Washington with the unanimous consent of the Congress as the first Chief Justice of Our Supreme Court, said: "Good Christians do not behave this way" and neither do good Americans. Best we ignore this KNOW NOTHING Palin and in time she will return to the Gutter where she belongs.

The more scandalous and outrageous the behavior, the more the general viewing public seems to want more of it in their homes. i am very disappointed when respected programming dips into the swlil My jaw dropped when this programming plan was sprung on us. Just received message from our allied Facebook group, which is led by the Chairman of EcoReserve who is in turn working with Jane Goodall. He just messaged over 1,000 of the hard-core Boycott-joining FACEBOOK ACTIVISTS announcing SEN and Care2-activists commencement of boycott action and linking them to the SEN page this Care2 article links to. He asked me to say: "Please go to
There use the “Invite People to Join” tool on the “Wall.” By simply growing we are showing any company who would even consider advertising on Sarah Palin’s show that they are in for the public relations disaster."

Noted with much ThankX and appreciation Gregory! I saw JK go off on Palin and was elated! I have boycotted every product from every sponsor, but it's really not that big of deal for me, as I only eat organic, local products. Hey, Suzanne...this is the link I sent you last week! {Defenders of Wildlife}. As I suspected, you were already all over it! I've sent stars for the wonderful posts I've read, but unfortunately I cannot send a star to GREGORY,SUZANNE,SHEREL,NEIL-HI AGAIN,KIT, AND BLAIR! I agree 100% with EKEIM, hitting them in the pocket by way of boycotting all sponsor products GETS PE$$$PLES'S attention. GREAT POST NEIL.

Susanne Dawn, thanks for your first great comment above, and as to the second, we are working on something to force Unilever to quickly say publicly they will not advertise on Discovery TLC's Palin's Alaska. If they make that public statement (and maybe we can get something re animal testing thrown in) we will relent and select new bow-shot targets, looking for a dominoe-effect of advertisers saying in advance they will not support Palin's Alaska with ads. We have months to knock down the dominoes before the program will air if it gets that far. As to Breast Cancer Research donation, of course we all support it. It would be good if someone could get to the charity and enlist them to join in asking Unilever to make the statement immediately. We must learn how not to let one good cause be set against another. One of the things we must do is learn how giant international corporations like Unilever cloak themselves with pittance support of causes which they associate with brands that reap enormous profits because they can then charge more for them. Sometimes they have higher quality, most often they don't. We buy them out of habit because we trust the brand we are familiar with, and that's what brand advertising does. Keep it familar, make you trust it, make you keep on buying. So they make a huge profit. You can see this on EVERY grocery chain-store shelf. In most cases the private-label store brand is almost identical or 100% identical to the advertised brand, which sells at a higher price.

Sarah Palin has put a HUGE THORN in the sides of all ones regarding the lives of our Wildlife, she mimics her pretend crown to be Queen of Alaska and then some. Everything that is being done to take her down is fully explainable when action speaks louder than words, the deaths of so many beautiful wildlife torn from life.
Sarah Palin will pay for everything she's done in pretending to be Queen of the Mountain, let alone having anything to do with Politics.

Thank you Gregory. For some reason Breast Cancer popped into my mind, and I was would be a GREAT MOTIVATER for them to come clean! I didn't mean NOT to boycott because of that!!!!!! I absolutely did not mean "to let one good cause to be set against another". I should have been more clear. I don't even know if they are connected, just a flash in my tini tiny brain!!!! Unless I write it down, my head is like a bunch of information getting all intertwined! wink!!! I TOTALLY understand everything you said about advertising, marketing, habbit, etc. {if that was directed to me}. Do you REALLY think you can get Unilever? Killing two killers with kindness????wink! While I spent allmost 2 years at the DNC getting Obama elected, I have a "bumper sticker"/decal with a beautiful young wolf in the center. Above the wolf's head~it says PALIN in bold caps. Underneath the wolf, it says: Killed my Mom. It is POWERFUL, and only small! 5x3 and a quarter inches. I get little messages under my wiper blades to this day, telling me how much they despise her. People stopping their busy day, to jot down how they feel about this monster! Love your post Laura!!!

Thank you all for your great comments and clicking that "note" button. Susanne Dawn, I know you're a great giver through and through, so do others, said a few things for benefit of any who might not make the connections. And your good brain gave me an idea for a downloadable series of posters we can create for the page! Linda B, thank you, just as Laura and Violetta made me aware Unilever was experimenting on animals, you made me aware Unilever was using palm oil in Dove soap. For those unaware, vast tracts of needed rain forest are being burned and dozed to plant palm oil for export and use in many consumer products, including some chocolate candy bars for which reason Greenpeace is campaigning against Nestle. Yes Christina, and we're just getting started. I almost hope this takes us all year, so we can make a bigger and bigger mess for them and gain an ever-more powerful voice for our collective cause that we can use to right some wrongs that are worse than this symbolic one that enfuriates us so much and galvanizes us to united action!

Real men don't hurt animals! What does that make Palin? I couldn't even stomach the video with her face in the animals flesh! What a murderess F.B.
She probably loves the bad publicity, as it gets in every one else's faces, she loves the glory & lime lights! I just wish I would not have to see that face ever! Boycotting Discovery/TLC and sponsors until this self-serving, hypocrite is booted from hosting this or any other show. Signed and noted! When I hear Sarah Palin I start to get that same feeling that I get when I hear the name Michael Vick! They both enrage me and yes, I boycotted his show too! Both should be behind bars for inhumane treatment of animals, disgusting and dishonest tactics used to manuver themselves into the limelight of the public, and just plain disgracing the American people! I always did like Jimmy Kimmel, now I see why (besides that he is so funny)! I boycotted P&G and Unilever quite some time ago due to animal testing practices, but will certainly sign again. The Discovery channle totally sold out on this one, Palin talking about the beauty and wildlife of Alaska?! Give me a break, that is ridiculous - not that she had anything to do with the beauty and wildlife. Let the show open with video of one of her wolf killing helipcopter sharp shooters flying over with dead wolves lined up on the runners - maybe a tag line like the true Sarah bitch in all her glory....this is what she wants to do to Alaska. Let;s show some old oil spill footage with her on the side chanting "drill baby drill". Idiot!! I sure hope Discovery pulls this show!!

Noted and signed with pleasure and sent on to everyone in my Yahoo address book many of whom would never see this. Thank you Jimmy Kimmel and Gregory for you actions against this wolf killer. I personally cannot watch Palin with that sickening "hick folksy" manner about her. John McCain even had the nerve to use her in his campaign in Arizona and after her speech he came to the microphone and said, isn't she just the greatest. He tried to make natural supplements under the jurisdiction of the FDA and I wrote him on his website and told him he need to take some of those things he was campaining against to revive his brain!!!!

Thanks Gregory. As usual, a great vid on the fool, Palin. Even watching the fake killings made me think of her real barbaric, slaughter tactics. I have boycotted Unilever for years and will continue to do so. Also many years ago when my mom passed and I received an inheritance, it included stocks and bonds. P&G stock at the top I sold it right off and donated the money to animal welfare. She is a wolf-killer that I have been fighting for years and I will continue to fight against this absurd Alaska nature show which is supposed to be her view of Alaska's wildlife and habitat. I couldn't stand to watch all that blood anyway!

Good morning all! Our boycott campaign is gaining momentum as word spreads "out there", and don't forget that the "boycott central" this post links to has links to petitions on Care2 and elsewhere and all kinds of things you can do, plus a special "thank you" to YOU for all the world to see. Here you made this the third consecutive campaign article ranked #1 in Animals, on the heels of the second being #1 on all of Care2. And that's despite so many good articles and petitions deserving our support, and many reporting they needed to hit this article's NOTE button several times before it "took".
This Palin Alaska outrage has galvanized us to united, relentless action that will over the coming weeks and months help put our concerns for wildlife and the environment where they belong on the American and world scene: too intense and widespread to be ignored the way they have been for so long!

Thanks for the info. I signed the petition as well and look forward to putting the guinch back in alaska where she came from. Confine her there as before she was introduced to the world. I am glad to see people speaking out against her for all her lies and incitements of us down under. America had it's problems but not to this evil uncivility that came with this woman Palin. Has she broken any laws yet? She must have broken something by now, that they can jail her for good. Her and her handlers.

Thanks Gregory, Good for Kimmel. I only watch Craig Ferguson on CBS. But am glad he spoke out against that Beeeee-atch. What kind of Idiots listen to someone that Deserted her State as Governor? And as for the ad people when you hit them in the pockets where it really hurts them, then maybe they will pull their advertising. All they care about is MONEY!!!!

I am curious who made this decision.. Maybe the real target should be whoever hired her in the first place. If that person or board was replaced, then they would take the next logical action, which is to dump Palin.

Of course, if that channel is looking to become like Faux News, then maybe they will accomplish that goal, if they stay the course... Gregory has the right idea, by boycotting and pressuring the advertisors and supporters of the show.. That is the key..

Palin is more an afterthought and symptom of deeper problems in the media, owned by huge corporations that do not care about local towns, or even states. How can the public take back ownership of the airwaves?

I strongly dislike Sarah Palin. From the moment she was brought on board for the elections she acts like she's all that and a bag of chips. She talks about how strong she supposedly is, but turns around and threatens to sue media for poking fun at her because she can't take the critism. Now they're doing a show on Alaska with her and that is plain ridiculous. The moment I heard about the petition at work, I signed. My whole family has signed. If she has ANY form of decency she'll step away from the spotlight and attempt to become an ACTUAL human being.

I'm glad to see this has such a strong following. I don't know about the rest of you but I'm REALLY tired of the ignorant, lying and self righteous elitist getting rewarded for their lack of character and morals in this Country and Boy, is Palin at the top of this list. We have so many that truly try to do good work and have decent common sense, a set of REAL values of what social interaction and social responsibility is all about. They rarely get more than just a couple of minutes of credit or air time. I'm sick of rude and crude, hateful rhetoric and behavior getting the attention and becoming "media darlings" all for the sake of ratings and money. The majority in this Country have spoken and are strong enough to come together to stop the vile and hateful personalities that absolutely do damage and divide this Nation. I've gotten to where I absolutely shut off ANY program that promotes this kind of "train wreck" mentality.

To all the revengeful, hate filled, loud mouth, vulgar people out there, just who in the hell do you think you are. Everyone has a right to express their opinions and your ignorant ramblings just prove and show what a lack of credibility and intelligence the Palin defenders have. Go ahead and show your true colors, it only makes the case stronger that you actually do not have a clue as to Palin's background and history. Don't forget she was picked by the loser in the campaign, with virtually no vetting done, simply because she was an "attractive" women to manipulate votes for McCain. What a joke that was and what a joke she still is. THANK GOD, the majority in this Country are decent, caring people that use common sense and the mind that God gave them to get the real facts and make INFORMED decisions.

I cannot express how my heart has felt over this reaction about Sarah Palin's Alaska program.

I have been an original member of Care 2 since 1999 under my "Pommawolf" handle. I have travel thru 5 states since then, been chased from Care by stalkers, trolls in the early years, but I always come home here to Care 2.
Why? Because the most wonderful people on the planet are here.

When I became an Alaska resident in 2001, it was a lifetime dream. Since that time due to loss of family that forced me to move yet again...I always came back to Care 2...Why? Because the best people on the planet are here...*S*

Living in Alaska is a challenge and a gift. A treasure unlike anywhere in the world. Trying to explain or describe the awesome overwhelming big-ness of Alaska is even harder.
The up in your face direct elements is one that can change within an instant, and if your well informed and ready to endure'll love it as I do...*S*

I thank you Gregory from the bottom of my old wolf heart for you dedication and forging forward on this issue. I can only thank you from the bottom of my heart for your determination of not letting this issue slide.
It pains me more than anyone can ever know how the value of a non-human life has so little consideration in the human mind.
Since when does any life of any living creature on this planet earth have to be justified?? Why does it even have to be thought of as less value than a human life?
I ask these questions daily in my life, and my patience as I grow older is full of frustration and anger. Having to ever to accept that a wolf, a moose, mountian goat, a grizzly, seal, polar bear has only value as a hunted trophy sickens me to my soul. We have failed to teach others of compassion and the basic concern for other living things so different than our human cage. Yes...a human cage.

I care nothing for money...but I care the most for those blessed creatures who are in care throughout the world...that we continue to fail for.....

Consideration the following: Pass it on.....

On Cruelty
But is man only cruel to his own species? Surely not: and, therefore, when we talk of mercy, we do err by confining it to our fellow-creatures. It is then but partially urged, and consequently its effects are but partial. Thus a man will disclaim the imputation of cruelty, if he offend not the people about him, although he live in the daily exercise of barbarity against domestic and dependant animals. Will not the horse-dealer, and the gentleman that acts like one (O shameful ambition!) furnish us with a long catalogue of cruelties, that are daily committed for the sake of alluring the whimsical fancy of hard-hearted, but fashionable men? To mutilate and to deform a serviceable and harmless animal, under the silly idea of improving what the Deity hath already made perfect in its kind, is, to say no worse, the most egregious folly; but where can any spark of generosity or mercy be found in that man, who, for the sake of the slightest pleasure of the will, or for the sake of amusing himself with the agony of their forced exertion, urges on his horses to the utmost of their speed and strength, sometimes to the very point of death, by the most intolerable torture?

Behold the relentless ruffian, who, without the fear of God before his eyes, in sport, or for paltry gain, ties a tame fowl to the stake of torture, where the inoffensive creature receives many a full-aimed stroke from the bludgeon on his defenseless and tender body. His piercing screams, his violent, but ineffectual struggles to escape, his dislocated and flagging wings, his bones bruised and broken, his head and beak dropping blood, instead of drawing tears and heartfelt sorrow from the spectators of this woful tragedy, give occasion for triumph and exultation; for the callous, the vulgar, the obdurate monsters in human form, shout, with fiend-like joy, at the too sure direction of the weapon; and when at last the death-stroke arrives, the savage herd bring another poor innocent victim to the stake. O shame to manhood! for cowards are cruel; but the brave love mercy, and delight to save. O shame to the people of England! for in this country alone this abominable cruelty is committed.

O shame to our legislature, that could ever tolerate this bloody act of inhumanity! and although it be now forbidden by our laws, and it be prevented in the great cities and towns, yet in many villages, the officers of justice do deserve the highest censure for their negligence, and because they are not merciful enough to enforce the laws against the execrable perpetrators of this sanguinary deed * The dreadful anniversary of cock-throwing, doth always fill my mind with the most painful agonies and apprehensions. I have publicly declared in my neighourhood (finding that the laws are not duly put in force) that I will never employ, nor aid any persons, who are themselves guilty of this cruelty, or who permit their children to practise it. If this were, the general declaration and resolution of all the compassionate men in the realm, I apprehend that the abominable custom of cock-throwing would soon be quite abolished.

I need not trouble you with the description of all the various cruelties that are hourly practiced on the inoffensive creatures around us; such as are committed by the unprincipled youths on birds, reptiles, and insects; such as are committed even by religious and philosophical men in their amusement of angling, or in the trying of curious, indeed, but yet well known or useless experiments. But let us take shame of ourselves for too often standing by, although not as agents, yet as unconcerned spectators; not duly considering, that if we would please God, we must imitate his agency in the care and preservation of his creatures.

Now, cruelty to a harmless animals affords a strong suspicion of man's general inhumanity and temper; for if they, without a cause, suffer torture from his hand, surely nothing but the laws of the land, or the fear of retaliation, do restrain his violence from his fellow-creatures.

As prevention is better than cure, and as common acts of cruelty are often perpetrated for want of knowing better, we should carefully instruct our children in this great principle of humanity, and habituate them to acts of mercy and compassion. We should never indulge, but rather check with asperity, their wish to possess any thing, which, in their hands, might suffer torture or death; always remembering the words of Solomon, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and he will not depart from it." How pleasant will be the reflexion, when our children become eminent for their integrity and benevolence, that they are indebted to an early care for their real honours! How pleasant the reflexion, that when we die we may be rewarded hereafter, for having been good shepherds over the little and harmless flock entrusted to our care.

Gregory, I applaud you for #193 notes! Congratulations to you and the lovely Suzanne, and congratulations to EVERYONE of us for the Voice that has finally been HEARD. LOUD AND CLEAR. I will no longer spit Hatrid towards this "DISEASE" {not human in my belief}, as our passion, Sacrifice, and Dedication to Ending this madness~ is much more effective {in my opinion}. I dedicate my energy in a positive and intelligent way so my voice will be HEARD. My dearest Sherel {Dandelion} told me months ago, "TOGETHER WE STAND~DIVIDED WE FALL. Hear me! A single twig breaks, but the bundle of twigs is strong". Teeumseh, SHAWNEE. With Gregory and Suzanne setting a solid foundation, Our BUNDLE is STRONG and POWERFUL. We all despise Palin for many justifiable reasons, but this Narcisstic sociopath needs to realize that her manipulative Ya Betcha pretty face will no longer be followed by the elderly GOP who listen to FAUX 24/7. She is such a dangerous woman {in my opinion} as she still has an evil cult following. She is adorned by many, and has gotten away with murder, quite literally. Now, on to another topic, as I'm drained thinking of the Disease. I have been working with RAN for 2 years now, regarding boycotting but more importantly educating people of the destruction of the Rainforrest and communities from the use of palm oil. THANK whomever shared this information, as I know seniors who use this soap, and as I purchase their groceries I will definately not purchase it in my future deliveries. I'll come up with something, but I won't lie. I'll give them the literature that I have by the box, as most people want to know and HELP the environment...but there are too many $$$ involved in keeping this education secret. I hope I made sence, as I ramble along. Thank you for reading. Thank many who have posted since I last visited (many of my posts are problems). I was allowed to give many stars, but not know who you are!

Palin has no idea of what TRUTH is. And she shouuld't be a spokesperson or anything in from of a microphone that stands for anything worthwhile. I have just -accidently!- found out why we can't expect anything good from the 'Discovery' channel:
they'd bought the rights to Alex Gibney's excellent, heartbreaking, groundbreaking documentary, "Taxi to the Dark Side," then refused to air it.
Alex Gibney won the Academy Award for the Best Documentary Feature for “Taxi to the Dark Side” in 2008 and Amy Goodman wrote an excellent piece in Truthdig about the film itself, Alex Gibney's Oscar acceptance speech, & the whole story of Discovery's refusal to air it. Excerpts :

"...Gibney got a surprise, though, from the Discovery Channel, the television network that had bought the TV rights to the film. He told me: “Well, it turns out that the Discovery Channel isn’t so interested in discovery. I was told a little bit before my Academy Award nomination that they had no intention of airing the film, that new management had come in and they were about to go through a public offering, so it was probably too controversial for that. They didn’t want to cause any waves. It turns out Discovery turns out to be the see-no-evil/hear-no-evil channel.”

The Oscar ceremony was bereft of serious mention of the war, until Gibney rose to accept his award. He said: “Thank you very much, Academy. Here’s to all doc filmmakers. And, truth is, I think my dear wife Anne was kind of hoping I’d make a romantic comedy, but honestly, after Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib, extraordinary rendition, that simply wasn’t possible. This is dedicated to two people who are no longer with us: Dilawar, the young Afghan taxi driver, and my father, a Navy interrogator who urged me to make this film because of his fury about what was being done to the rule of law. Let’s hope we can turn this country around, move away from the dark side and back to the light. Thank you very much.”

The Discovery Channel is owned by John Malone, the conservative mogul who owns Liberty Media, one of the largest media corporations on the planet. Malone is famous for his complex business deals that involve spinning off media properties with stock offerings that net him millions. He also has just gotten approval to swap his extensive stock holdings in News Corp., Rupert Murdoch’s empire, for control of Murdoch’s DirecTV satellite television system. When Discovery told Gibney they would not be airing “Taxi to the Dark Side,” Malone and Murdoch were awaiting approval for the DirecTV deal from the Bush administration’s Federal Communications Commission. (It was approved on Monday, the day after the Oscars.)

The film traces the final days of a young Afghan man, Dilawar (many Afghans use just one name), who was arrested in 2001 by the U.S. military and brought to the hellish prison at Bagram Air Base. Five days later, Dilawar was dead, beaten and tortured to death by the United States military. Gibney obtained remarkable eyewitness accounts of Dilawar’s demise from the very low-level soldiers who beat him to death. We see the simple village that was his lifelong home and hear from people there how Dilawar had volunteered to drive the taxi, which was an important source of income for the village.

Dilawar had never spent the night away from home. His first sleepover was spent with arms shackled overhead, subjected to sleep and water deprivation, receiving regular beatings, including harsh knee kicks to the legs that would render his legs “pulpified.” He had been fingered as a participant in a rocket attack on the Americans, by some Afghans who were later proved to be the attackers themselves. Gibney uses the tragic story of Dilawar to open up a searing and compelling indictment of U.S. torture policy from Bush and Cheney, through Donald Rumsfeld and the author of the infamous “torture memo,” now-University of California Berkeley law professor John Yoo. "
