Noted and signed. I've had several friends who were planning trips to India that I've persuaded to pick a more civilized area. NO ONE should have to worry about making a wrong turn and being gang raped because of some group of punks immature and repugnant egos.

You are so right Karnia. It's not wise to walk alone, anywhere, especially in places where foreigners stand out a mile, and are targets for assault, theft, kidnapping, and despicable rape.
I don't care what the 'culture' is - wrong is wrong, 'they' know it, and women must be protected and rapists must be prosecuted. Or nothing will change.
Awful. This happens more often than people think, and can happen anywhere. Places like India must be confronted on their women and children rights' record and be pressed and pressed for change and action.

"Unfortunately, India has gotten a lot of recent attention for extreme cases of sexual violence. Societal outrage over the case has led to more harsh laws that doubled prison terms for rape up to 20 years. Some experts believe that it has to do with class differences between groups of people in India and menís struggle to prove their traditional gender roles in a changing nation."

UNFORTUNATELY??????? I'm damn glad the word has gotten out, why should it be hushed?????

Or is it that the woman was to blame because she was a female???
