I have to admit that I am concerned by this telethon. I am a veteran and I care deeply about our men and women in uniform. BUT while I was on active duty it was my understanding that the government would cover any problems I received while serving this country. Why aren't these men and women receiving the treatment they need from the government? If our elected leaders have the "courage" to send these people into harms way.....they should be equally committed to making sure they receive the very best medical treatment at the government's expense. I am sorry, but I truly do not understand this.

Thank you Robert. Good to see that people care I hope they raise a lot of money. I agree with you Robert it is shameful that veterans do not receive the treatment they need from their government.

It is so true that the government that sends a soldier into combat should pay for medical expenses incurred by those soldiers. But as we see more and more, the government will squeeze every penny out of mental health benefits for ANYONE! Especially for soldiers! They want to have endless wars all over the world and don't want to treat them that come back not in the same shape as they left. If you lose a limb, they make all kinds of prostheses for you. But let it be your mind or your brain, tough luck, soldier! We don't treat that and we don't know how!
But, kudos to Mr. Alda and Mr. Montegna for stepping up when our government won't. This is so sad. To have the largest military with the most money spent on it to let the people that need them to get to studying some way to help the PTSD and TBI patients some help! It's tragic and so sad to see some of these people go thru life in intractable psychological pain and some end up taking their own lives! It is deplorable!

These telethons and personal giving are now needed for something the government was supposed to provide for homecoming military personnel. Not so anymore. Those 'cuts' they so fondly caress up in congress towards the DOD, those cuts don't touch the UNNECESSARY PORK in DOD, like the TRILLION DOLLAR fighter jets that even the Navy and Air Force have told the congress THEY DO NOT WANT NOR NEED....those have not been cut, no. The cuts go towards the NEEDED benefits such as health care, pay, benefits for the TROOPS. They NEVER cut the upper echelon's pay or benefits, generals will tell you that to your face. But, they CAN AND DO cut the grunts pay, benefits and healthcare.

Are you loving the Sequester yet?

Are you loving our FASCISM yet?

I'm not and I know our veterans aren't either.

I agree that the Government SHOULD be taking care of this. The cost of treating and helping these veterans SHOULD be built in to the Military Budget. The cost of sending personnel into war and then treating them AFTER they come back HAS to be BUILT INTO the total cost of the war. It is a travesty that veterans are simply pushed aside and not given what they need to recover from a traumatic war. SHAME ON CONGRESS!!!!
