You read that right: The NFL enjoys nonprofit status. The National Football League is one of the most profitable enterprises in the world. However, it is regularly subsidized by state and local governments to build and upgrade facilities.

Now we need a petition to remove the tax exempt status of religious organizations. I have yet to see a poverty stricken church.

How ridiculous - as bad as NASCAR getting big bucks from the government. When they are cutting food stamps, veteran's benefits, and every other social service that should be helped, this is obscene. Signed

Ya know, I love football. It is something I look forward to football season every year. But this is totally INSANE! I never knew this. It is so WRONG!!! How they can even ask for such things is one thing! But to be given it blankly by all the places where they have stadiums?
PUUUULLLLLEEEEEAAASSSEEE!! This is down right stealing from the poor to give to the rich!!!
I have never seen a team owner go without food or shelter!!!!!

This has to end now. Team owners are raking in money and can easily afford to pay their fair of taxes, but because they can afford it, they get away without paying taxes. Doesn't see right to me.

The Green Bay Packers are the only exception and do not belong in this photo. They have been a shining example of how socialism can work better than capitalism. The team and stadium are both owned by local citizens who stand in line to do the cleaning, snow removal and maintenance. Tickets are sold out years in advance. It is the smallest city with one of the oldest and best teams. This is the model all teams should follow.

The NFL non-profit? MY A*SE!!! They are as for-profit as it gets. I'm sure a good investigation could uncover more cheats like them.

This is absurd. In the same way that I have a problem with any religious institution paying millions to anyone as a "salary," the NFL takes in billions and pays everyone involved with it well. Anyone taken a look at a Super Bowl ring lately just to see how much the entire thing is about bling? This is a ridiculous waste of our money!

Signed. If the NFL and for that matter all the sport leagues, can afford to pay the outrageous salaries to the babies that play the sport, they can darn well afford to pay taxes. Maybe then we would see how actually wants to play the game, not just get all the money they can for cry babies that are no better, especially without steroids, than most kids on sandlot.
