In a rented flat, in a poor district of Amman, it is playtime for Rana, a refugee from Syria. She is the same age as Alan Kurdi, the Syrian boy whose body washed up on a Turkish beach. Soon she will take her place in an overcrowded dinghy just as he did.

It's incredibly sad about the refugees, they have very little hope for survival.

Well, if all 28 EU member states would demonstrate responsibility (like Germany and Sweden)...

This is a very delicate subject that I, as a Brazilian, I'd rather not comment on what I'm sure for those who want to understand it is not necessary any more. The only thing I allow myself to regret it for the life of various Ranas who have no responsibility for what is happening to them. The second thing has to do with my surprise at the surprise of Roslyn with the fact that the refugees have little hope of survival.

Air flights! Fly the most deserving cases to the West as and when places become available. Its the obvious solution to all the problems - perilous sea crossings, people traffickers and being overwhelmed by numbers.

And more aid to the refugee camps.

And Saudi Arabia needs to play its part in taking refugees.

Europe's overall response to this has been abysmal, but then Britain and America's hasn't been that great either.
