Pronouncement of the Honduran Protective Association of Animals

HONDURAN PROTECTIVE AFFILIATION OF THE ANIMALS AND HIS AMBIENCE
AHPRA

PRONOUNCEMENT

ON THE ARTISTIC EXHIBITION IN WHICH THERE WERE COMMITTED ACTS OF ANIMAL CRUELTY AND OTHER FACTS THAT CAN BE CONSTITUTIVE OF ILLICIT.
The Honduran Protective Association of the Animals and his Ambience (AHPRA), with juridical personality number 1337-2004, expressed by the Secretary of Government and Justice of Honduras, for this way declares itself publicly on the facts published in the Newspaper Nation of Costa Rica, in date October 04 of the present year, relating to the exhibition that there realized the Costa Rican artist Guillermo Vargas, better acquaintance as Habacuc, in the Gallery Codex of the city of Managua, Repúblic of Nicaragua, last August, presentation in the one that was used like a street sick dog objected. On this matter, we declare ourselves on the above-mentioned facts of the following way:

1/Of the journalistic note of the Newspaper Nation of Costa Rica earlier above-mentioned, the act of extreme cruelty is fully accredited towards a street dog that was in clear state of malnutrition and illness. Also, it is known that the person directly responsible for this act repudiable is the Costa Rican citizen so-called Guillermo vargas (Habacuc) (to see http: // www.nacion.com/ln_ee/2007/octubre/04/aldea1263590.html); fact happened in the Gallery Codex of the city of Managua, Republic of Nicaragua, for ende, we think that such facts must be made known of the competent authorities of this country for his investigation, owing to apply the arranged in the Code of Defense and Protection of the Animals of Nicaragua and any other current regulation that regulates the described conduct.
We do not know, if individual persons or organizations friends of animal protection of Nicaragua, have interposed denunciation of these facts, of not being like that, respectfully, we urge them to initiate the steps for the investigation and resolution of this cruel and shameful fact committed by mister Vargas who is an object of fortresses critiques and rejection for thousands of persons on a global scale, including to our country, Honduras.

2/In the same journalistic said publication and along diverse electronic means there are circulating the details of the exhibition of mister Vargas in Nicaragua; we surprising that in addition to allowing him in the Gallery Codex, the torture and long agony of a dog, seemingly also, allowed itself in the presentation the supposed fire of 175 stones of crack and an ounce of marijuana, drugs prohibited by the national laws of the majority of the States and by the international agreements signed in this matter for committing an outrage against the public health, for what we suggest that this fact should be notified to the Direction of Investigations of Drugs DID and the Public Department of Nicaragua, independently that the corpus delicti (175 stones of crack) it has been incinerated in the presentation badly named artistic.

3/In virtue, which at present circulates along Internet a request supported internationally for next to 200,000 thousand persons and recognized organizations of the field of the animal well-being that questions the act of irrespeto for the life committed by mister Vargas and that simultaneously looks that the organizers of the next Central American Biennial one of the Art to be carried out in our country in 2008, exclude from this important event to mister Guillermo Vargas; request that we have signed for considering it to be a joust, and given the multiple post office that we have received requesting us our support for Honduras being the country sedate of the next Biennial one of the Isthmus, we inform to the international community that our organization will support all those actions formal and attached to right that coordinadamente are established by individuals and/or organizations of Nicaragua and Costa Rica in order that this act of animal cruelty and other circumstances are investigated by the authorities that correspond in the country in which the facts happened and which the same one I did not stay in the impunity.

Thanks so much Rebecca and Daphne for the update! I'm so glad something is being done to this scumbag. I also wish the same for the art gallery owners and EVERY SINGLE "PERSON" that attended his cruel exhibit and just watched this poor dog die and did NOTHING!! The best sentence would be to have a giant exhibit with each one of them chained separately with water, food, liquor, money and CRACK... all things they find vital to their existence surrounding them but out of reach-- an eye for an eye!!

I'm a little confused though. Is Honduras the country hosting the event that this scum is representing? I'm just wondering why this statement came from them and not Costa Rica. Why isn't Costa Rica doing crap???

Michael, my thoughts exactly!!!

Thanks to Care2 and the thousands who signed the petitions, Costa Rican artist Guillermo Vargas, is going to be prosecuted!
This dog could have been saved from an agonizing death if the spectators at the exhibit had protested and put a stop to the torture while the dog was still alive! How could they let this poor, helpless dog suffer and die right before their eyes!

Well done everyone lets hope the authorities take this up and actually DO something! I did try to get an answer from the artist personally on myspace but he declined to answer my questions so that just shows his level of contempt. It seems they can call anything 'art' these days! We can celebrate when the scum is behind bars..........

so many of Gods precious animals go.!!!!!Unseen they suffer
Unheard they cry
In agony they linger
In loneliness they die.
it truly takes a person with no soul. to want to murder for their needs .we are not to ask why? there are so many evil ungodly people in the world. i don't care if it has four legs or to legs no one has the right to bring hurt or death to them. i hope the hand of God touches this mean soul. noted. thanks.

Thank u Daphne & Rebecca, kudos for caring, just like everyone here...I have been following this sad story, and just found this out now, so, I appreciate the update....Now, as for the sub-human who did this, There is a God, and justice will prevail with fingers crossed, next, the people who stood around like this was some kind of cocktail party...they make me sick...i saw the photos, and they will forever be embedded in my mind of a beautiful soul such as this innocent doggie..and I am ashamed of these people who did nothing but look at her and walk by...staring...STARING AT A DYING DOG....nice, huh?...I am appalled to say the least...and I have to agree w/my friend Nadia..if we were all there...none of this would have taken place..that dog would have lived...now, the owners, ha...they should be thrown in jail as well, for allowing this to happen in their establishment....this cruelty to an animal.. I need say no more...I am glad that we all care at this site..Thank u all and Many blessings to us all .....dohiyi (peace).....

Every time I see that poor dog I cry & cry & cry. It's just so darn upsetting. He could have been so easily helped, had food & water right there & was purposely denied it all part of this sick mans game. The dog appears so gentle & trusting. All who are upset by this go to www.dogsindanger and sponsor a dog that has days to live. In this dogs honor help another. Put your disgust for what was done to him to good use & help another dog have a chance at life.

He breaks your heart, his look, his eyes. He looks like the "boy" in "Lady and the Tramp"...No revenge desire, no hate in his eyes. Just resignation.
And the schmuck idiot Habacuc, instead of taking this innocent and helpless (and in need) living being to a vet to try to give him medical treatment, he exposed "Tramp" as a form of art!!! Never let anyone to feed him or give him water...If I was there I would take Tramp by force. What could have happened? Arrest me for steeling an "art object"? I'd shown all of them the dog is pretty much alive and isn't an object but a living being who needs help.
Why didn't Habacuc pick up a homeless to do the same?? Ohhh, the laws would punish him for this, but for a dog? Who cares for a dog? WELL, I DO! More than I care for that imbecile creature that is calling himself a "human being" and "an artist"...Makes me laugh and gives me creeps.

Thanks for the update.

I'm hoping it was a visitor to the "gallery" who was the one to get the outrage and petition going. It would be like mass psychopathy if everyone who saw the dog just ignored his agony. The "gallery" owner definately has to go down as well. Maybe writing the person who issued the letter - if that's possible. They couldn't ignored 200,000 petition signers; and they know the world is watching.

If I read it correctly, he also had a lot of crack cocaine. Not surprised by that. You can do a whole lot of hard time in some Central American countries for drug offenses. I hope they put him away a long time for that, as well.

I just went and signed the petition,I was # 218212 and in the time it took me to post my signature up it had gone up to 218315As anBritish ex Veterinary Nurse I was horrified at what was allowed in the name of art to happen to that poor dog, I thought I had seen it all in the practice where I worked ....Until this.....I hope EVERYONE involved no matter how slightly should be punished to the maximum weight of the law.
I also think in this case "An eye for an eye" would be a fitting and just punishment for ALL of those involved

I sincerely hope the laws in Honduras
provide for severe punishment for this
sick sonofabitch. It has to be a safe
bet he will do SOME time behind bars,
though not enough, of course.
All the same, I don't Honduran prisons
are fun places to be.
The one thing that REALLY frosts me is
knowing he'll get more prison time for
the crack and the pot than for what he
did to the dog.
Y'know that place on our profiles,
"If I were president"?.....I should add
onto mine(and I think I will) that the
punishment for acts of abuse or violence
against animals should be only slightly
less severe than those for acts of violence
against humans.
When the hell will people ever realise that
animals are sensient beings who feel every
emotion that humans do? They love, they hate,
they grieve, they feel joy, sorrow, and PAIN!!
Feeling superior to an animal, merely because
we are human, is a stupid, thick-headed way of
"thinking"(and I use that word loosely)

Rebecca, my friend, Bless You for providing
us with this update! There's a green star
coming your way!
noted w/satisfaction

For the benefit of anyone using
Windows XP for their operating system,
as I do:
Right click, and at the bottom of the
menu is an option, "translate page
into English". That's what I did
when going to the site. The thing
isn't perfect, it tends to translate
into something like "pidgin english",
or, in this case, "Spanglish".
Just tho't I'd mention that.

OH HOW I WISH I WAS THERE WHEN THIS HAPPENED TO THE SUFFERING OF THE DOG.( I named THE DOG" BRAVEHEART " ) I will never forget his image and that is why i had to give him a name. I am the proud owner of 3 small house dogs and i will never allow anybody to mistreat them. I always tell my visitors : enter at your own risk because this also the home of my dogs and they roam freelly. they also have their special spots reserved on the sofa if that is what they want and they get what they want. Those are my rules . My friends and family dont pay my bills and dont provide food for my kids and my pets !!!!! ha ha ha !!! they love me anyways !!!!

Thanks for the update, Rebecca, and for the translation, Daphne. I was just thinking about this the other day and wondering what source I should find to get the latest news on this story. IMHO, this excuse for a human being very well could have used himself as the focus of his poin rather than an innocen dog: his starving to death in an art exhibit certainly would have proved to attract more attention than the thousands of people, homeless and otherwise, who starve to death on the streets of every country the world over while humanity swirls indifferently around them. The news drugs being burned as a part of the exhibit is very suspicious to me; what point was he making?

Joanne S., I believe the dog's name was Navidad.

p.s. regarding internet etiquitte, using all CAPITAL LETTERS is a no no. It is considered the equivalent of screaming in a face-to-face conversation. Please do not use all capital letters.
