How many thousands of worthwhile causes are there in the world every single day? How many people are dying of starvation? How many women are being beaten up and killed? How many children live in poverty? How many children are abused on a daily basis?

How many thousands of worthwhile causes are there in the world every single day? How many people are dying of starvation? How many women are being beaten up and killed? How many children live in poverty? How many children are abused on a daily basis? How many animals are tortured and die every second of every day? How many thousands of charities exist, desperate for one signature to help their cause? How many lives will you improve by promoting eating ice-cream??!! And the IMPACT of eating ice-cream?? Obesity, diabetes, dairy intolerance, osteoporosis, animal suffering, etc, etc, etc…

Was today’s (Scream for Ice Cream) "Action" an action or a waste of time? There are MANY vegans in Care2, and promoting a "food" that means a lifetime of suffering and eventual killing of cows, that´s also a health problem (especially in the USA!), is not the best idea in the world (you might as well promote McDonalds as far as the health issue goes!). I disagree with this "Action" wholeheartedly and I give Care2 a BIG negative point for it (and please don´t say anything about it including vegan recipes cause that´s not the point AT ALL).

Please, let’s not waste people’s time… An action is an action is an action, and eating ice-cream is not!! Leave that kind of thing for appropriate sections… maybe Dairy Action, but not for Daily Action. I do my click-to-donate clicks virtually on a daily basis, followed by the daily action, because if I can help a cause I´ll do it, and I don´t want my time to be wasted with this kind of fairy-tale rubbish… If I were interested in that, I´d go looking for a recipe website!

By the way, the link takes you to the petition site, just to put my comment into context, to see how many thousands of worthwhile actions there really are.

COMMENTS VERY WELCOME, FOR OR AGAINST! (though anyone voting FOR this “action” might want to view any one of these videos first, with the warning that they show true images of what the life of a dairy cow and her calves is REALLY like! … http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEGw8iFbG5I

I agree with you 100% Marisa. I hate it when the daily action isn't a action at all! Pure fluff!

At the moment of looking, there were 235,434 petitions created, ONLY at the Care2 petition site, not counting the very many more on other sites on the internet, so doesn´t Care2 have enough to choose from?

Marisa, you are absolutely right!
I was somewhat disgusted because I prefer to live dairy-free, and although I do respect other peoples choices/habits, I don't think eating ice cream needs to be encouraged. If they do need to promote certain foods, make them cruelty-free. Thank you for speaking up, Marisa!

I don't eat ANY ice cream, I'm a diabetic. If I were to eat it, I would have to give myself a higher dose of Insulin. Some of the Daily Actions and Polls are real "no-brainers" anyway.

Thanks Marisa

Thanks for this interesting post Marisa - really original and observant and I agree, any action I take here on Care2 has to have an impact, or else I feel it is a waste of time.

Wow. I completely agree. There are way more important things to take action on then promoting the fact that it is ice cream month. Thanks for posting Marisa.

I agree with you Marisa. If I wanted a recipe for ice cream, would look up a recipe. TY

The recipies (sp) offered are fruit popcycles and two with yogurt in them - you could substitute with some non-dairy ....
Anyhow I DO AGREE Daily Actions should be Actions and not some .... uhhh I don't know sorry excuse for ...?

I get more and more the impression that this site as such is getting more and more shallow and comercial - but then I am European.

I agree with everyone, excellent submission! YOU GO, MARISA! I did click on the Ice Cream Daily Action and it took me to Annie's recipes but C2 has been screwed up so long that I didn't even think about the meaning behind the words. I'll go to the petition site now. I'd much rather eat frozen yogurt! TY Marisa! Thnx for sharing =)

Noted and thanks for story Marisa. I agree with your sentiments.

While I'm here I'd also like to say (and I know it's been said before) that I wish Sponsors creating petitions would put appropriate Targets i.e. not a number like 10,000 but an appropriate person/corporation/government or such that the Petition is going to be presented too.
Also Sponsors with the name of 'me' don't add much credibility to their petition/cause. I have written to a number of these Sponsors suggesting the points of above to no avail or response. I want to utilize my time I spend on Care2 to the best advantage for those causes I can help. Thank you!

While I enjoyed the article, and all the recipes, including the vegan ones,I also deeply feel it should not have been an Daily Action

To be honest I do find it doesn't belong in a daily action,but...they have good actions, most of the time, when I logged in and saw this action,I just skipped it.
I don't see the big deal here,Marisa, you can contact them if you don't agree with this action. I am for C2,I give them credit for the action that I find very good and to learn from.
Most things are overwelming and takes times to get into, sorry to say but this isn't one of them.

Thank's Marisa.
If one out of thousand care2 members were active, we could make a difference. I have seen petitions with deadline FIVE YEARS AGO!!!
Those who haven't even logged in for a year should have their profiles deleted, that's it.
But, "9,393,489 Members!" looks good in the advertisors eyes; as always, it's all about money.
Well - who am I to tell?
If not NOW - WHEN?

Im going to get flamed for saying this but;

Every major petition that has been for a good cause never actually has an impact as these petitions may or may not actually get sent or even when they do they are no different than other online petitions or sites or letters you send for example ones to stop animal testing or other exploitation, they all get thrown out believe it or not.

When it comes to wanting top make a difference you have to do it yourself, NOT depend on the scum behind it all such as the ones you write to as they do not care whatsoever eg; ministers of and of governments themselves.

People think one such as myself is too carried away with verbally bashing the governments. I do because what I say is actually all true. They caused these problems after all.

Care2 is indeed scewy but that is not the problem.

The only use Care2 ever has been is group discussions and thats all. As well as conspiracies to throw everyone into a discussion that throws everyone off track. Theres enough lies as it is.

The only reason I signed any petitions was to hopefully get someone to read what I put but they never arrive or are taken notice, just disgarded. Or worse they take what you put and twist it around, I know this from something from another petition I and many send long ago.

Tell them the facts and they turn it around. Thats how crooked they really are.

Marisa sweetheart I just saw your message about this now I'm so sorry!
I fully agree with you...eating ice cream is something trivial and utterly inappropriate to the "daily action" initiative...what about using that space for petitions which need support instead (just for instance). Let's be coherent...I understand the point of information, but we're speaking about "daily action", not "daily information"...if I'm interested in some information I'll go lookng for it or I'll subscribe some newsletter. Putting someting like ice cream on a daily action contest is simply ridiculous :x
