A senior astronomer has said that the hunt for alien life should take into account alien "sentient machines".

I have not yet seen an alien or their space ship. Maybe they have seen all the cruel people on this planet and too afraid of human attacks.

I agree with Stephen Hawking...we shouldn't be looking for aliens because they're probably not all sweet and friendly like ET and we don't know what we could be getting ourselves into.

I think it's archaic and egocentric to think that this one tiny planet, in this one tiny solar system, in this one tiny galaxy is the only one capable of supporting life. I also think it's rather archaic to consider ourselves to be "intelligent life forms", given our barbaric behavior and highly underdeveloped evolution. I agree with Julie and Buffy - any extraterrestrial life viewing our globally destructive, self indulgent, warring populace, would be wise to steer clear of the madness we've come to accept as the "norm" here on Earth. It is sad that we actively seek to make this miniscule planet even less significant by decreasing its beautiful diversity.

Makes sense...that they would send robots or artifical intelligence rather than real humans

Human development of the A.I science is a very important and great achievement. But the rise of the alien's issue, I think it aims to turn our attention from more critical and important issues.

A technologically advanced society is going to create some sort of robots, after all. There may even be robot civilizations out there.
