there is now, according to S&P, "at least a one in three chance that American debt will be downgraded from it´s top-notch status over the next two years- which would be a first in modern times. A New York Times/ CBS News opinion pole has also suggested...

Everyone is feeling the pinch but all living in fear of the unknown! Well the unknown will become more then the fear if you do not awaken & be enlightened! At this point you have nothing left to loose but your very life!

It scares me cause I do know about this, but the tea-baggers and "birthers" want us to do in this direction, as they don't really care about US or what happens. They seem to seek the total destruction of America for their own power and greed (or religion). MAKES ME SICK!

It is so obvious that everyone should be able to see what is happening, but it doesn't seem as though there are enough of us paying attention to make a difference and stop the right wing destruction of the U.S. We currently have only one man in Congress that seems to have a complete understanding of what is taking place and how to turn things around. Bernie Sanders' lone voice isn't enough, we need more like him to stand up for America.

The article rightly points out everyone is sound asleep. Some in government want to cut nickels, dimes and quarters from seniors and other vulnerable powerless groups while being totally unaware of the real causes of our mounting national debt which is the three wars being fought. Each soldier deployed to Afghanistan costs a cool $1 million per year. The high tech ship fired missiles cost almost as much each. It all adds up. Billions and billions, money we can't afford being poured down the drain of these wars that will never end until our credit dries up.

Pay for Power on the backs of the poor. The CORPORATIONS could pay off the national DEBT, Medicare, and Social Security! For THEM, Just a small drop in the bucket. I call it SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY!!!

Lots of us are screaming bloody murder. Just not enough of us. We are being ignored by our "elected representatives" and can't seem to get rid of them. For example, on March 1 the Government Accountability Office released a 345-page report that detailed federal government duplication, waste and bloat. Instead of even considering these findings, many of our legislators are determined to push their own flawed agendas even while the U.S. is being degraded to a "Less Developed Country".

Many are sleepwalking or should I say "goose-stepping" to the tune of the Koch's and their ilk.

They will collapse the economy exactly when it suits their plan. Martial law will be imposed as soon as they do and my dear American brothers and sisters human and civil rights will be gone with the stroke of a pen (no congress approval required).

Don’t trust your clergy if they mention Romans 13 or ask you to go quietly; read the King James Version now (below) or any of the seven true translations – it is God who you must obey – not the government.

Romans 13. ‘Spot the difference’:

King James Bible; “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.”

GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995); “Every person should obey the government in power. No government would exist if it hadn't been established by God. The governments which exist have been put in place by God”

All 17 translations of this verse below;

There are many translations which have perverted this verse; reject them. Submitting to anything other than God is blasphemy – it is worship of ‘Golden Calves’.

Do you want to meekly go to a FEMA Camp, take any of their drugs, vaccinations or accept any food or water there if they force you to go? According to many, they are poisons that will permanently damage you. Some FEMA camps appear to have gassing facilities and huge furnaces; do you want to risk being a part of another holocaust?

Why would you not be permitted to stay in your homes? Why would they want to leave you defenceless from looters, mob rule or invasion by taking away your Second Amendment rights?

Most importantly do you wish to accept the RFID implant? It is the ‘mark of the beast’ and its reference number is 666 (visible as the three [usually] longer lines at the beginning, middle and end of every barcode in existence).

They have the power and ability to turn off the internet with one switch with Executive Order 10995, available to view on government websites. As soon as martial law is in place your telephone and computer will not work. You have an important decision to make so do your research now. How will you react to a loud knock at your door at 4am when homeland security soldiers ask you to come with them?

Everyone is speaking up but congress want listen since we have to listen to them cause our voice doesn't matter to them when they feel the crunch in the recession like we do and try to avoid their losses. They don't don't care about ours.

Judith, Patricia and "wooddragon", I agree, as I said to Cal re other news, it is easy to control the minds and opinions of people not in the know, which is a nicer way of referring to being uninformed, misinformed or sorry, but yes, ignorant on a particular topic.

It's hard not to feel helpless or fearful about the way things are going in this country and the world. People are definitely asleep, or hypnotized by the spectacle presented by the media.

If we are, it's our own fault; we're letting it happen. Worst of all, there are the brainless who still vote Repug, no matter what horrific things they've been up to or the scumbags they put up as candidates.

Noted!! I think the media's lulled the people into a false sense that all is going to be a-okay. A lot of scare em' and lie to em'. Time for people to wake up and stand up before it's too late to fix. Thanks Judith!

Thanks Bohm--good post.

Perhaps the answer to your question is that Americans and their media are more concerned about Obama's birth certificate than serious pressures in their economy.

It’s been in the long term planning of the likes of the Heritage Foundation for over 30 years, but they had to have virtually total control of the press and subsequent control of the public by selling Fear and Hate to pull it all together. Fascism, Corporatism, Plutocracy call it what you want, it’s a bloodless Cope to all those of us who’ve been paying attention and pissing in the wind trying to get people to wake up. Bloodless in that no shots were fired in DC, just the transfer of wealth and control, including but not limited to stealing elections and forfeiting our freedoms.

As long as the Defense Dept is largely off-limits and raising revenue is off-limits and no one seems interested in getting the 25 million into suitable jobs, the ship of state will just lurch from crisis to crisis, all the while the rich get richer and the poor and middle class get poorer. Until the crash and the revolt.

Unless more of us get active and march and protest and make ourselves heard. Sunday is May Day. March.

Corporations and rich repubs want to kill off all seniors and grab the money we paid into SS and medicare. Its all for naught the planet will reclaim all we have taken from it, even our very lives and there will be nothing left but ashes and dust. Maybe if we sterilize the rich so they can't have kids they will all die off and everything will return to the people.

I don't think this is a democrat vs. republican issue. Both parties are culpable for the dire situation this country now faces and both parties are equally beholden to their corporate masters. All of our politicians, regardless of party and with the exception of a very few lone voices, have betrayed the American people. The whole system is at this point, rotten to the core.

Debra Van Way (12)

I have to agree with Charlene S. Both parties are indeed culpable. Research before you vote folks. And for goodness sakes don't vote for the idiots like Donald Trump who can only sling mud, lie and misdirect. Don't let them take away our hard won rights and freedoms.

This country was in deep sh*t when Obama took office! We are not sleepwalking, we are being led to slaughter by the corporations and the banks and all the other moneychangers. Like Lemmings, the cliff is getting closer!

If people are stupid enough to vote Repug in this next election, they will be contributing to the downfall of this country. If you tell them that and they don't listen, it's because they've got their heads in the sand and cannot hear you. I cannot understand for the life of me why people who are staunch Repugs are staunch Repugs, and I daresay they can't either.

We're not "sleepwalking toward disaster." MainStreamMedia is. What they plaster all over their airwaves is the "royal wedding" and Trump's self-promoting garbage---they've created their own Corporate-slanted machine. Many different "Progressive" groups have staged various rallies: against the "torturous" imprisonment of Bradley Manning, against corporations paying little or no taxes (US Uncut), against slashing Social Security and Medicare--and where, oh where is MainStreamMedia? Harping on superficial, materialistic promotion of "non-news." (Keeping the War Machine churning). And "covering" the TeaParty. Recently, I've been turning them off ever more frequently, and contacting my local legislators, governor and Senators through e.mails, petitions and phone calls to voice my opinions as a taxpaying constituent....also attending these rallies and protests locally. These news channels need to hear from us when we're sick of their programming--I e.mail them with my complaints...tell them when and why I changed the channel. Sometimes their subversion is very subtle--watch carefully with an open mind, and call them out.
