A woman died in Saudi Arabia last week when a Riyadh university delayed male paramedics' access to a women's campus. Poor judgment and overly strict enforcement of Gender segregation laws are blamed for this tragedy.

well heck, in addition to allowing males to attend the female campus, maybe it's time they trained some female paramedics???? Oh, of course I suppose they would need a man to drive..... maybe female paramedics could drive a horse and buggy to get around the campus, in that case. Is there a rule against women driving a horse and buggy? I'm just trying to figure out ways around their rules that end up endangering people's lives.

Wow, this was an act of common sense - NOT. Maybe it is part of a real plot to decrease the number of educated women in their society - wouldn't put it past them. It is very difficult for me to support a country that allows extreme religious practice to kill its people.

I keep wondering when they will realise that such extreme segregation really demonstrates how they really believe that men are incapable of any self control at all .... so women have to take responsibility for preventing men from lack of control!

And yes - they should have female emergency teams also. Admittedly, at present, the emergency team would need to have a male driver (but families who can afford it do hire drivers who are not mahrem - relatives - usually foreigners, so the practice is accepted ... and there would be a group of women in the vehicle). They'd be valuable also for emergencies in homes, shopping centres or offices .... not only educational institutions

Granted, I don't really understand the culture. But this just seems absurd--a senseless waste of life that could have been prevented. (Perhaps it's time for female emancipation, so women can be ambulance drivers too, if they can't change their culture enough to allow for emergency life-saving measures.)
