Chicken raised in the US may soon be processed in China, then sent back to US for consumption. Given China's sub-par food safety record, and for other reasons, this is a really bad idea.

This is wrong on so many levels. First and foremost, it means the chickens will have to be shipped across the Pacific twice. Think of all the energy that takes! Second, we need jobs here in the USA. Third, China's safety record is far from sterling. How many toy, animal food/treat, etc. recalls have there been of products made in China? The Chinese are nice people, but their government leaves a lot to be desired.

What stupid people! How much does it cost to send the chickens back and forth considering fuel, refrigeration, and the merchant marines to handle the boat? Just pay US citizens a decent wage.

Signed petition. I don't see how it could be profitable to ship chicken to China for processing then ship them back to the US. I believe it is a way for companies to get Chinese chicken on the American market . I believe if the USDA approves this they are corrupt.

Noted and signed. Because yes, all of the stuff that's been coming from China lately, including pet foods, jerky treats and who knows what else is in there foods, have been soooo safe and healthy for us that we now need one of our major meat sources being sent there too. Yuck!

Just keep the image of the 600+ floating pigs(dead and decaying) in their drinking water ways.

How about the 500,000 deaths that occur every year in Beijing due to air pollution. Doesn't everyone know they walk around with masks over their faces?

The heck with this. How about the fact that a lot of our seafood is already processed in China:

Rather bizarre to say the least. Why in the world would your country be sending chickens to another country for processing? Oh, me forgotz....profit$. The world of globalization. Murkier and murkier. If one buys chicken, avoid the factory farm and buy local.

Apart from the fact that I am against the horrible way in which chickens are killed world wide, I nevertheless, have to wonder why the hell the US would want to export to China and then import for consumption.........??
Perhaps the Chinese pay for slaughter and shipping.......... I personally, smell a fat rat, amongst these chickens??

I want my food processed at home in America. At least we will have some controls over what how they are processed and no unknown poisons and who knows what are going into them or are being used to process them.

Signed. Thank you Susan.

Additional observation:
China delivers Walmart cheap stuff. Walmart doesn't pay its employees a decent wage and encourages them to sign up for food stamps and welfare. That's taxpayer's money. You know what The US' biggest export product to China is? Scrap metal and wastepaper. And now we export- and then import the same product back again....?!
