Heritage groups say one of the countryside's most famous monuments is "under attack" from illegal metal detectorists hunting for buried treasure. But what is "nighthawking" - and is it robbing us of our past?

People are always looking 4 treasures--if the government has a problem than ban it. It's history+shouldn't be permitted in my opinion.

Oh, also.. just a thought here.. maybe if the fat cats would..you know.. pay people a living wage.. toss a few bones around... less people would turn to stuff like this to make a buck. Just sayin'. ;)

There's no need to dig now though is there, with technology that allows for scanning underground. . .?
