Happens all too often the signs are evident but unless you are aware of them many people put these signs down to other things, that is why it is important to seek medical attention asap, the problem is getting the person to realize they have an issue and to get help, in a lot of cases they refuse to accept this and even when they get help it is not uncommon that they dont take the medications to control their illness, so sad this happened and it will continue to happen unless an advertising campaign highlighting the signs and symptoms of schizophrenia is put in place, this does in fact help a lot, makes people aware and that goes a long way in stemming deaths caused by untreated mental illness patients.

The problem with mental illness is the terrible stigma attached to it. Popular media doesn't help either - too often movies, books, TV, comics and so on perpetuate inaccurate stereotypes. Unfortunately, our mental health care system has a pretty lousy reputation, so people are reluctant to seek help for themselves or their loved ones due to both the stigma and the lack of decent care.
