Nigella sativa -- more commonly known as fennel flower -- has been used as a cure-all remedy for over a thousand years. It treats everything from vomiting to fevers to skin diseases, and has been widely available in impoverished communities

Sadly yet another example of big business attempting to act in a greedy way. Hopefully the patent application will not be upheld.

Noted, this is awful, the thin edge of the wedge, especially now that medicinal plants have been scientifically proven to be effective it is imperative that corporate interests do not patent plants and keep the good stuff from us (like cannabis oil for medicinal purposes) or tamper with it in the name of progress (GMO) and ultimately charge us a lot of money for it in capsule form.

Signed, so many big corporations are trying to patent ancient cures and remedies of the east and palm them of as their own. Greed.

They want to patent words, phrases, plants that have been around for millenia, anything they can get their greedy hands on for a profit. The only solution is to quit buying from these monsters at all. Signed.

Shy am I not surprised? The instincts for greed, egotism, selfishness are showing up big and loud. There is no way on this earth or any other planet they can own all the fennel flower in the world. Private citizens should be able to sue them for trespass, which is the only way they can get it all.

I have avoided Nestle products for many year, ever since I learned they push infant formula onto Third World mothers. In my view, they are a corrupt company.

Yes, greed rears its ugly head again although it is not the first time for Nestle. I remember them trying to push formula on poor mothers in other countries years ago. If nothing else they are consistent-still unethical and greedy they were then and have remained so. Patenting aslant? That's a new low.
