Thanks Chaplain for this good news. noted well... At least it is a great start! I was sorry to read that so many elephants are still kept in very poor cirucmstances. I DO so hope that this will change soon too! We certainly are making headway!

The bullhook is an instrument of fear. Not only is it meant to instill fear in the elephant, but it is an expression of the "trainer"'s fear of the animal over which he thinks he has dominion, but is woefully incompetent, lacking in both the training and compassion necessary for a successful relationship. If the elephant would harm his or her trainer, it is only because they have been treated w/cruelty instead of love, having been objectified instead of treated w/respect and affection. The subsequent bond created would benefit both elephand and trainer.

I hope that in 2014 every bullhook will be confiscated and placed in a pile that will be set on fire, thus ending an age of ignorance, hate and the desire to control. This would be replaced by a new era of co-operation and trust. This is possible - actually there is no other choice, but the consciousness of the trainer needs to change. These awesome creatures do not belong in exploitative situations, but in Sanctuaries.

Pardon my rant, but that photograph of the POS w/the bullhook is extremely disturbing.

I wish the bullhook could be banned everywhere, and that people realised that keeping elephants in captivity is inhumane and unacceptable, and should also be banned.
