So Much for WalMart Paying People to Work Thanksgiving

Business  (tags: Walmart, Thanksgiving, workers, wages )

Last week we learned that WalMart would be open on Thanksgiving day. We were told by a WalMart executive "associates" were even excited about the opportunity! Heck they were going to get extra pay, a meal and 25% off everything they could buy...

Only a heartless sociopath who makes over 100,000 a yr. would want to cheat workers out of fair pay. It is UTTERLY SHAMEFUL. Remember, KARMA will deal with sociopaths.

I would not be surprised to see this spread to other companies. They will do anything to keep as much of the profits as they can and screw their employees at the same time. And if the federal minimum wage goes up there will be more cuts for these employees and many employees acrosss the country.

Noted. Thanks, Beverly. I won't be doing any shopping at all this entire weekend. I will also carefully consider where I purchase my gift cards, too. Also, thought I saw an article earlier that the head of WalMart is stepping down.....hmmmm.....

A study showed that it's cheaper in the long run to buy at Neiman Marcus than WalMart because WalMart sells garbage and NM stuff lasts about 20 times as long as WM stuff. I can se why a poor person would but shoes (for example) for a kid who will be outgrowing them in a few months, but for anything you want to last more than 6 months WalMart is a horrible choice. And, frankly their food prices are NOT actually lower than other stores. At least not around here.

Walmart is little different than the Company Store. Any trick to improve their profit margin at the expense of the employee. Truly disgusting. I'm not sure this is what Sam Walton had in mind.

Walmart sells crap because it is constantly at vendors to lower quality to get a low sticker price. Do not believe anything at Walmart is the same quality as a similar product at another store.

I went to our local walmart about twice this year and that was to find something that I couldn't find in any other store. To find it I would have had to travel 60 miles or so to a larger city. But I can understand younger people who have families and little money shopping there. I don't find them especially cheap except for maybe their food is a little cheaper in some products. I shop for groceries at my Canadian-based store and if they still had mom and pop grocery stores I would shop there. But then I'm old and do not need a lot of "stuff" anymore or a lot of variety in food.

I do not shop at Walmart. I do not support Walmart. The ONLY thing that will get their attention is "if" sales fall off.....Boycott Walmart & AND Kmart, Target.......Stand with the employees.! ....BOYCOTT.!
