Americans are abandoning organized religion in droves. Data from the Public Religion Research Institute shows that while only 7 percent of Americans were raised outside a religious tradition, nearly 19 percent are religiously unaffiliated today.

I went "rogue" in my family and my daughter and fiance (31) are the same. I always mention voting to the younger crowd as at nears...Registering is sometimes the catalyst to activity...

Let's hope that kindness and compassion replace the religions of bigotry and racism.

Although religion may have had good intentions from it`s onset, much of it has taken a direction unintended over the course of time. I would like to share the intro from a current book I am reading which goes something like this-
"This book is dedicated to you, the One Infinite Creator--the author of consciousness, energy, matter, biology, space, and the great cycles of time--now reading these words in your temporary human form."

I'm not affiliated with any one religion, only know a few who are.
Victoria : Excellent comment.
Thank you Freya

Considerably more shocking: a huge number of US-Americans still (some seven decades into (what might be called) the 'space-age'!) "beLIEve" and destroy their reason with that old outdated medieval sh*t !

This is great news. People are waking up to the idea that we don't need any particular "holy book" to tell us what to do or how to believe.

Compassion, kindness and tolerance...don't depend on religious affiliation. Wonderful article. Thanks, Freya.

Why is this shocking? I find it refreshing.
