When Republicans reveal their budget this week, the Koch Brothers have one special request: Repeal of the fraudulent, virtually bankrupt, and increasingly oppressive Social Security system.

Bernie Sanders brought stacks of petitions to the Senate signed by 2 million Americans, the senator spoke about the need to strengthen Social Security. Later that day, he introduced a bill that would boost benefits and make millionaires pay the same share of their income as everyone else.

I signed most certainly.

Social Security reduces elderly poverty dramatically in every state in the nation. Without Social Security, the poverty rate for those aged 65 and over would meet or exceed 40 percent in 41 states; with Social Security, it is less than 10 percent in the large majority of states.

About 6 million children under age 18 live in families that receive income from Social Security which includes children who received their own benefits as dependents of retired, disabled, or deceased workers, as well as those who lived with parents or relatives who received Social Security benefits.

I'm sure the Koch Brothers can do just fine without Social Security.....but for most Americans they can not do without Social Security.

Boomers, we are the block of voters that can vote these lying, thieving Greed Old Politician (GOP) out of office. If they succeed in this, it'll be our fault.

I don't plan on using it... EVER. It requires signing up for Medicare.

Another government scam... pay into someone all your working life, so that the govt. can require you to join and pay for something else before you can get what you have paid for already.

The government had robbed Americans of their taxes put into social security since its inception. So, now the big rich men and women want the system done it so the robbing of our taxes will be done for. No, we want our tax money put back into Social Security and in 1991 it was something like 6 billion or trillion that was owed back to we Americans......

Dear Republican legislator: Just because you profit from the fiction that corporations are people doesn't mean you're not delusional.

MJ J.....Good for you. Hope your life goes perfectly well, not a single pitfall before you. However, for many people despite how well they planned, was careful, played by the rules.......LIFE happens. It doesn't always go the way it was planned or thought to be.

I suggest you take time and talk to LOTS of Elders in your life. Ask them about Social Security and if they would be comfortable without it. Social Security doesn't make one rich but it keeps millions from being out on the street.

If Social Security had gone into private hands as the Bush Administration wanted it to go, with the economic crash, those collecting Social Security today would be in the toilet. I KNOW there are many Seniors thanking their lucky stars that Social Security didn't go private. I know of many Elders who have had their Pensions cut back on them, their 401K's cut in half from the economic turn down, but their Social Security remains the same or a few dollars more most every year.

So stop buying into the Corporate Greedy Heartless Ones Kool Aid and speak to your Elders. They have lived it and are living it.

As for Medicare, millions of Seniors have medical care due to it. I'd like to see a Universal Health Care in this Country. We are the only Country in the world that doesn't have it and our medical costs more than any other Country and far less people have medical help on top of it. Look at the statistics, we are failing in many ways in the area of health, rising infant mortality and our life expectancy is going down.
