Are gig economy workers independent contractors or indentured servants?

In Britain, if you're a "Contractor" you don't get ANY employee rights, or job security.
You turn up, you get paid.
You don't qualify for sickness, pension contributions, and can be fired instantly, and have no recourse.

ZERO hours workers, are treated exactly the same.

If any of this goes on in the $tates, you've got major employment issues, from the get go.

Noted. Thanks, Freya.
Yes, this seems to be getting worse, as if it wasn't bad enough already. A big reason why there are so many angry people in the U.S......people doing the actual labor aren't being rightfully paid for their hard work, while those at the top suck up all the profits.

A gig economy is an environment in which temporary positions are common and organizations contract with independent workers for short-term engagements. The trend toward a gig economy has begun. A study by Intuit predicted that by 2020, 40 percent of American workers would be independent contractors.

Clearly, as can be seen by the definition, there ARE NO WORKERS rights, under this type of economy, which is an employers dream in a Corporate Capitalist model.
