In 2016, Uber and Lyft combined spent more on lobbying than Amazon, Walmart and Microsoft combined. They use their political might to win deregulation bills.

Seems both of us posted a different story about the same problem which also covered Douglas Schifter. If the labor force across America doesn't start to form under one banner there will be many more Douglas's and I'm sure there have been others we haven't heard about. My posting to the story can be found HERE

Also please note......if you think only the Democrats will save you think again. This was within the article.

Uber and Lyft combined spent more on lobbying than Amazon, Walmart and Microsoft combined. They use their political might to win deregulation bills. Most of their lobbyists, by the way, come out of the Democratic Party. Many of them went straight from the Obama White House to work for Uber.

We either have to start voting in the 3rd Parties to help them gain strength or get true Progressives into the Democrat Party. Frankly the GOP is beyond repair and the Dem's are just about there themselves. People are going to have to rise up and save themselves the Parties we have now are about saving themselves. If ever there was a time in the last election to have gone to 3rd Party it was when we had Trump and Hillary, yet the majority of the people held their nose and picked one of the two or stayed home. If the people who stayed home had at least voted a 3rd Party then that would have given that Party some strength to help us to fight back.

It's no bad thing to have several stories underlining the human issues of Uber etc ...

So terrible for these drivers & their families - but I fear that the US society today is becoming insensitive to such individual cases - feel bad for the time it takes to read the article, forgotten before the next call for a cab (probably Uber) ...

Could enough users be persuaded to boycott Uber? While demanding fair minimum wages ...?

Uber and Lyft are killing well paying jobs and replacing them with low paying part-time situations with no job security.

This is helping to kill the middle class.

It is my opinion that Airbnb is also part of this drive to the bottom.

This is a quandry and we have no reason to put hope in democrats or republicans....for political parties I do not use "capital letters" both champions in corruption.
