While the company already offers plenty of vegetarian options, Taco Bell said the dedicated board will feature some new items.

:-) Good! Maybe more fast food restaurants will do the same.

thanks, although rare it has been possible to eat "veggie' at Taco Bell and some other fast-food restaurants, but I am so glad to see them making dedicated efforts to do this...….we haven't eaten at any "fast-food" other than subway in about 15 years...…..

Will be good for Taco Bells bottom line. As a Vegan, I won't be eating fast-food. Don't like it or want to support them. ty

Not that I eat at these fast food places. Will consider them if they do offer vegetarian meals.
Thanks Freya

Sometime in the mid 90s when the low fat craze was big, I remember Taco Bell coming out with lower fat versions of 7 or 8 of their popular menu items. Consumers voted with their pocketbooks and the items disappeared from the menu in less than a year. While it is great that Taco Bell is offering Vegan and Vegetarian choices, I wonder if they will be popular enough to become a permanent part of the menu. Taco Bell will only keep such choices on the menu if they are profitable.

Taco Bell has a few menu items that don't contain meat. True vegetarian would mean there is no lard / anumal dat in the refried beans for example. Many of their restaurants are franchises. They'd most likely test market vegetarian items at company-owned stores and in select cities before going national. Glad to see that they're opening their eyes to trends in the "fast food" market (note the menu changed at Panera, Chipotle, Mr Pita and the plethora of meditteranean restaurants opening etc) over the past 3-5 years. They've got to broaden their appeal to vegetarian and type if shell or food wrap (corn, whole wheat, non gluten etc) if they want to stay fresh with customer's dining trends. Theyll need to go NON-GMO also. it was hard to even get the salad in a shell --without meat -- at their franchises. Vegetarians have friends that eat meat. They keep changing the look of their restaurants so I'm really glad to see them update their menu. Gracias!
