Fantastic news! Now for the Australian Federal Government to do the same with the GST out here.

“Finally, the government has listened to reason and put an end to this injustice. That is a victory for all women” said Mathyssen.

“Today, the government recognized that feminine hygiene products are essential products” said NDP Status of Women critic Mylène Freeman (Argenteuil—Papineau—Mirabel).

Maybe it's just me, but a tax on tampons is an "injustice"? I think that's a little over the top.

Don't get me wrong. Feminine hygiene products are essential and probably should be tax-free, just like groceries, but based on that logic, shouldn't toilet paper be tax-free as well?
