Once the law is put into practice, current owners of exotic animals will have to hand these animals over to authorities within six months.

"The penalties are tough: large fines and even imprisonment. The new law also encourages people to report any abandoned animals to the authorities or to the nearest police station."

Wonderful news & yes i too hope all other countries adopt similar laws!

Thanx Lone

Does this mean Michael Sandlin has to give up Tony the Truck Stop Tiger? I know this sounds morbid of me however, I hope Tony drowned in the flood in Louisiana they had a few months ago. If Tony survived, but Sandlin died, he had a friend agree to 'take care of Tony.' My friend called the Wildlife Docs in Busch Gardens Fla. and asked if they knew about Tony; they confirmed they did know about Tony 'but we can not do anything unless his owner gives him up.' BTW Yes, I agree, this great news for all the animals! Thanks Lone!
