Enough foie gras from MasterChef Italia

Foie Gras is a food considered luxury, which is obtained from the liver of ducks and geese subjected to forced feeding (gavage) . To produce it, millions of animals are subject to extreme suffering, also condemned by the European Union.

In Italy forced feeding of animals is forbidden , also considered cruel by law, but the sale of Foie Gras, imported mainly from France, is still permitted.

With this petition we ask MasterChef Italia not to accept or propose any more Foie Gras based recipes in their programs.

The well-known cooking show broadcast on Sky Uno has repeatedly used this cruel product during its challenges and given the popularity and influence of this program we believe an important message that takes a stand against a practice that is a real torture against some animals.

THE CAMPAIGN: In 2015 we published a survey in French breeding where we produce foie gras and showing those terrible images we asked the major companies in the large retailers not to offer this product anymore. Today, more than 10,000 supermarkets have joined the following brands: Pam / Panorama, Eataly, Esselunga, the Conad National Consortium, the Selex Group, Md, Lidl, Sigma, Crai, Bennet, Realco Sigma and Tigros have joined Coop who had already independently chosen not to sell foie gras anymore.

How they make foie gras is SICK! Those poor ducks and geese suffer just so a few can enjoy a gourmet treat.

The reason why Italy cannot ban the import of this disgusting "product" is because to do so would break the rules of the EU Single Market, which ensure the free movement of "goods". For the EU, EU fundamentalists and Single Marketeers, sentient animals, and, indeed, their organs and skins, are merely "goods" to be traded within this internal market. If the UK is successful in leaving the EU and its Single Market in the teeth of opposition from the PMCC (Political, Media and Celebrity Class), then it will put itself in a position from which it can ban live animal exports and the import of animal fur from horrific fur farms in EU States such as Poland and Finland and, indeed, the import of foie gras from France. Such progressive and radical measures will enable the British people to begin to live up to their self-styled status as a "nation of animal lovers".
