I am sorry that you were forced to deliver your precious babies in a frightening, unfamiliar animal control facility But most of all, I am sorry that you were killed so soon after this joyful photo was taken. I am sorry that people failed you.

Why didn't someone pull her from the shelter? this is disgusting! Poor dear, smiling angel dog. What kind of monster would allow this beautiful dog to be euthanized. She must have been so worried about her puppies when she left. Rest in Peace, beautiful girl.

Millions of unwanted pets are forced to die because humans don't think. Why breed dogs and cats when so many of them are waiting hopelessly in shelters for a new home.... Animals are NO waste that you can throw away if you think you don't "need" it anymore. So horrible... Rest in peace, little Lady.

So sad, poor girl ,if stricter laws were enforced ,such as fining those who do not have their animals spayed ,no backyard breeding allowed ,or special license to do so,limit on amount of puppies to be bred on puppy farms and strict inspections of these places ,perhaps this might be a solution to helping these unfortunate ,neglected animals such as this lovely girl.

My heart is broken for this darling, sweet mummy dog. Look at her joy and her pride in her little ones. How special to safely deliver healthy babies, and it is written all over her gorgeous, loving face. I am so distraught for her. And I know that this happens countless times every day because human beings are so fickle...people lose interest in animals that they should feel responsibility and love for throughout their lives...people can't be bothered...people see living, feeling, beautiful animals as disposable as their own lifestyles change. But, mostly, people do not NEUTER and SPAY, and this is essential to try to stop these heartbreaking tragedies from happening. I won't forget this gorgeous, proud mummy dog. I hope she is somewhere better than this, watching her darling babies grow. Bless her.

This was so wrong, she didn't deserve this, they didn't even give her a chance to care for her babies or get a forever home. What a beautiful mommy, she could have gotten a home.

This is not acceptable! She just had puppies and her reward is death. How so many people can fail a dog, all she needed was shelter and some love. Shame on every lazy person, who failed Mama! and every story that is similar to this!!

My eyes are welled up with tears, and my heart is broken again.... it is just unfathomable to me how human beings can be so heartless. May god have mercy on these sweet little puppies now that their mama is gone to heaven. Hope the little ones know their mama loved them.

I don't understand why they would have let her have her puppies if they were going to kill her and obviously the puppies too. They wouldn't be able to survive without their mother and I'm sure they wouldn't put in the time, effort, and expense to care for newborns?????? So many people are so HATEFUL and STUPID! We're supposed to be the 'smartest' species. I DON'T think so!

This has been a rough week. I'm doing a detox - deep cleaning program and it has me hyper-sensitive to this kind of tragedy. ...makes me want to inflict grievous bodily injuries to certain hominids..... But I'm working with Buddhist cosmology and I have to remember that those hominids are in soul-rending torment, or they wouldn't be able to commit such appalling acts and that they are paving the way for even more grievous futures. Another aspect is that that lovely, happy mother was likely also meeting the fruits of her past.

Don't misunderstand me. I'm not advocating apathy nor non-action, when intervention is possible. I'm just saying that the universe is a bigger, more complex organism than we humble creatures can grasp.

And lastly, we accomplish nothing good by agonizing overmuch about the cruelty in the world. I'd gladly suffer it, if it would help, but it doesn't. What it does do, is diminish somewhat the Metta, the loving kindness that we could be sending into the world, that it is our purpose to send into the world. And THAT does make a difference for the better.

Bhavatu sabba mangalam.

I was afraid this was going to happen. Why do humans try so hard at in vitro fertilization and yet humans do not spay and neuter? Something sacred about human life over animals. Yet we kill other humans in wars. I under stand what Philip I is saying, wish I could be so possitive.

I've been outraged every since I saw this on facebook. This is the whole story of events. Poor little mama never had a chance, rescue was on the way, they got there right before they killed the puppies next:( From the rescue.

HEART: Help Every Animal Reach Tomorrow

Thank you to everyone who tried to help this mom and her puppies. I am sad to report that the mother was euthanized this morning. The call came in this morning to save them but it was only about a minute too late to save this precious mom. I was able to get the call in to the shelter before they got to the puppies and we were able to save them…they were next in line.

The puppies have been picked up by a rescue who is bottle feeding them and will do everything they can to make sure they survive. This is one of the heartbreaking realities of what we do. Time is of the essence and even minutes matter.

How could this so-called 'shelter' act so heartlessly, how can the person who 'murdered' this new mum sleep at night is beyond my compehension, and to think they were then going to 'murder' her babies. Shame, shame, shame on this 'shelter'. It is obviously run by a group of peopel with no compassion, no empathy and no moral ethics so perhaps they should all find new jobs and let someone else run this facility who will take the time and make more of an effort to save the dogs not needlessly destroy them. RIP, dear mum, your life will live on in your babaies, who, at least have been saved.

I was not going to comment on this post at all , It almost seemed whats the point ?
We all know those in charge clearly suck & the poor dog paid with her life , How about we all organize local to our respective statehouses , March upon them wearing a shirt depicting the a senselessly put down dog/cats picture number whatever & demand change ! Then on to Washington .
We all buy our own t'shirt & if able provide one for a member not able to .

Kathy, thank you for the heart wrenching as it is. I have no words. It is always the animals who always pay the ultimate price. The puppies will never know the warmth, love, and kindness of their mama and I pray that their futures don't meet a similar fate that their beautiful mama had to pay!

Kathy :
I leave my note there.People can still make "THE DIFFERENCE" Take time to send a serious note to HUMANE SOCIETY in the state and HUMANE SOCIETY USA and other to PETFINDER. Petfinder is like a "showroom,a magazine, a book like those of models but about dogs in shelters. But they CAN also give more time to a dog if there is a promise of adoption ,if there is a program for sponsorship in that shelter or if we insist enough in saving her (him) and send money to keep her alive until an adopter or rescue appears. They listen if we talk seriously and make good our promises. Shelters are full and there are not enough FOSTERS to care for animals until adoption.Rescues are rescuing but get full also.If they are full and there is no place to bring dogs, they are killed without a possibility. Mommas if not received immediate offering for rescue/adoption,are killed, I imagine, because they will cost more. And babies if not mature enough, will not survive. That group is a "burden" for the shelter. Do not fight with me. This is how things are.I went to bed crying for this and had to take a pill for my nerves. If I could only tell you about animals put down because they have insignificant issues, because they do not pass temperament test,(which is obligatory) for a small gesture caused by FEAR!, because they are sick or emanciated...because shelter is full! Shelters are always full and there are shelters WITHOUT ADOPTION programs, none vet care and shelters that do not permit adoptions out of the county/state.

And there are rescues that do not get dogs with small issues, dogs for 2nd time in shelters (doubts),many times oldies are ignored also (not always)and let's not talk about dogs whose owners are dying. If owners are the ones looking for help, probability diminish for dogs.Sheltered dogs has more risk but also more probabilities. Sad as it is. But even then, sweet wonderful dogs that are rendered by dying owners to shelters are ignored! IGNORED BY RESCUES. - Want some names? Dog dies before owner! Imagine the suffering of that already suffering soul! Nobody saved her (his) beloved good, healthy dog! Her baby! - This is so hurtful that makes me cry and suffer every time I talk about this. NO COMPASSION! -NO compassion for a dying person,no compassion for animals... for me this is the worst example. - WE have to get near animals and work for them if we want a change. It is not talking only how we will make the magik click. Hum Soc needs money for shelters, shelters need voluntaries to bring animals for a walk,to help in the chores. Yes,the state is the responsible for animals but has a budget and will not go over it because we write in a blog. Animals need rescues and adopters and more than anything needs FOSTERS.Without fosters there is no other place for extra amount of animals but crematorium.
They also need money (hum Soc). Money given by state is not enough for better programs or vet care or to pay vet for boarding in case an animal needs treatment. Many animals die because it is easier to see how bad it is than to comfront the certainty that they will not have the money to pay for treatment. All help is so much needed. $1.00 makes a difference. 5th time I say this: if more than 3 persons sponsor the same animal, with less money, for a longer time, more animals will have the possibility to be saved without effort being too hard on the persons helping. - Now get this: If we really are more than 17 million, with only 4 million giving the first time $2.00 (to make a fund for extra ,extra emergency) and then giving $1.00 bi weekly, don't you think there could be some more money for the construction of better and bigger infrastructure? For vet care? or better programs? From 17 million only 4 helping! We cannot say that in 17 million 4 cannot give a dollar bi weekly.Probability for that being true is thin. It cost more the electricity to keep computers running and our connection to care. - Animals die because we are INDIFFERENT! - INDIFFERENCE is the num 1 killer!

Philipp: we are in the world to help aleviate suffering. We are humans ,people manifest suffering in different ways.we are in a physical body that receive the impact of the physical strokes and also suffer in a spiritual way. Simply contemplation of suffering will help no one. Actions to change for the good, consolation, physical
and emotional support eases suffering. I don't care if the suffering of a living being is the result of a learning process due to any past life error, my responsibility here and now in this life is to ease that and all suffering without even thinking why it is happening. I am very greatful to have such a good teacher as Keutsang Rimpoche is.But I take from buddhism that what matters to purpose. Not only words. From time to time would be good to see monks and students visiting hospitals, doing personal work as taking care of sick persons.Cleaning their bodies, giving them food, watching their sleep etc...or working for animals, why not ?
Monks should not be touched... Well, there's nothing as necessary in the world than a big sincere loving hug!
To take care of a sick living being, you have to touch it, embrace it, be near. Where there is pain, there is holly soil ! The absolute higher compassion! - That, I miss from buddhism. - Probably, that will keep me away from being a good buddhist. And no, a teacher is no better than a student intrinsically. Both have the same possibility to be enlightened and both will only get it through COMPASSION.
Thanks Michael.Noted

Of course this happened in the US where cruelty and killing is part of the culture with a long tradition that goes back to killing Indians for "gaining land and for security" and killing animals for fun. America always managed to find enemies that have to be fought and animals are part of it.

Where shelters are for killing, good has been changed for evil. This is just one example.

OMG! OMG! What has humanity & it's compassion for another's life become! I cannot wrap my mind around this decision to kill mommy & now having to bottlefeed those babies! WTH is this INSANITY that makes such INSANE decisions! RIP sweet innocent mama, my tears are flowing for you & your innocent babies. May they be adopted to a loving home soon & that their new loving homes makes wiser decisions for them all! This world will never know peace as long as all life is not protected & respected as you treasure your very own. Thanks Michael. I refuse to believe that the bad people outnumber the good ones. Our world has been hijacked by a few evil monsters who cause misery, torture, suffering for all creatures, and we are either sucked in by this inhumanity and become like them or we repel it with all our might.

In the end it will be up to each and every one of us to stand by and watch it happen or to bring back sense, love and respect for all live on this wonderful planet. Fight the evil root, and watch the fruits of love and compassion grow again!! Where there is no respect for live, there will never be any justice.

I can't even bear looking at the wonderful face of this beautiful dog mother and how lovingly she sits with her puppies; she is so perfect, innocent and noble. The best way to overcome such pain is to go out and do something good for another life. How else can the heart bear these constant stories of abuse whether towards innocent fellow human beings or or innocent animals.

Thank you my friend N III for forwarding this to me.

This is a sick and sad world, filled up with uncaring evil humans. I can not stop crying, just look at her proud and happy face. How could anyone do this, not just the person who killed her but also the one who abandoned her to this fate. I can not bare to think that she was not the only one, and how many animals facing the same fate.....Many irresponsible pet owner never think about spaying/neutering their pets and this is the story and picture they should see, to wake them up consciously.

There are no words to express how my Heart is Breaking for this Precious Angel . There is NO excuse for this to happen !!! I am so ANGRY that this Precious mama dog was murdered ~ dont the people have a heart ? Apparently NOT ! RIP Angel Mama .We NEED more fosters and NO KILL shelters and we NEED to get ALL puppy mills SHUT DOWN . Backyard Breeders need to be STOPPED by spaying and neutering being made MANDATORY for at least 5 years so All of the shelter and rescued angels can get Loving homes ! This is what SHOULD happen but it seems so sad today that NOT ENOUGH people CARE who will ACTIVLY FIGHT for this to happen . My Heart is just SO VERY SAD right now . But know that I will keep on fighting all that I can and God Bless those who care and fight with me . We are all the animals have .

I am heartbroken. If you don't spay and neuter your pets, you are responsible for this dog and 4 million like her that will be euthanized in 2011. We need to have all the breed their pets have to have breeders license, even backyard breeders. They also have to take back all the puppies and kittens that they produce, no matter how old they are. The shelters have to, why shouldn't those are responsible for this problem?
