Phoenix is a German Shepherd that was rescued in Southern California wandering the streets. His ears were crudley cut off, there were fresh bite marks on his body, deep scars covered his face, duct tape duct tape circled around his mouth.

Phoenix was used as bait for a dog fighting operation. Despite his shocking condition, the German shepherd was gentle and friendly. The vet who examined him that he had once been someone's pet that was probably stolen and used as bait to train fighting dogs. Coastal German Shepherd came to the aid of the dog and hundreds of people came to adopt him. On September 26, Pheonix once again became a family pet when he was adopted......

to me, it's not a matter of forgiveness. it's about protecting society from sociopaths that, psychologists will tell you, can not be cured.

Well, I think Catherine T. has it right....psychopaths have no hope of getting well. I just hate that poor Pheonix was stolen from his family!! And of course that he was severely (sp?) abused by Michael Vick!!

Ooopps!! I meant sociopaths.....

Anyone who even watches a dog fight is a sadistic sociopath. Poor Pheonix stolen from a family. Michael Vick is now getting publicity out of his dog abuse. He should have spent much longer in prison. Our prisons are supposed to protect communities from sociopaths instead they are full of pot smokers. The applications of justice and the correctional institutions in this country is hopelessly flawed.

No! The very thought that the man is allowed to laugh makes my blood boil. If he would have done what he did to humans, he would have never seen daylight again, but if that isn't frustrating enough, their torture and pain was only worth a pathetic 23 months... forget 19 months, even 23 is no where near long enough!

Sign the petition to at least see if we can ruin some of the life that he truly doesn't deserve.

Michael Vick didn't make only one mistake but several every time he used a dog for fighting or a dog was killed.
As far as I'm concerned, he should have been made to endure what those poor animals did and he should have to do it over and over again. He is NOT the hero some people portray him to be just because he's a football player. I certainly don't want him to ever be teaching my grandkids ANYTHING!!!!!!!

Thank you for the petition link, Alison. I've already signed it. There's only 326 signatures out of 10,000 so we need TONS more sigs!! Please, if you haven't signed, please do so now!! 23 months is NOT long enough!!

He does not deserve to be forgiven at all. Did he show any feelings towards those poor dogs?

Someone needs to lock Vick up in a room with a bunch of angry dogs attacking him & see how he likes it.

Well if this new book or whatever raised awarenes of pitbulls and that is a reason to forgive Vick then perhaps we should be exonerating Hitler for raising our awareness of racial discrimination etc! Excusing those in high places or prominent position whether in sport, the arts, church or politics is unforgivable in itself! Film directors and priests etc can apparently sexually abuse children with impunity whilst sportsmen are almost expected to behave in cruel and anti social ways because they have a ball kicking or whatever inate talent despite their lack of empathy for their fellow creatures! They also have a moral responsibilty to thousands of young fans who adulate and seek to emulate them!

Its sad that so many "boys" would consider him a role model. And he's now playing for Philly...which is NOT a role model city for caring about animals.....

Forgive him? Are you kidding? Did I miss his remorse for the cruel torture and murder of animals for money? All I ever saw was that he was sorry he got caught, sorry he lost his huge career, but I never saw even the flicker of remorse for the pain and suffering of all those animals he had tortured for money! And let's not forget about all the young people that he influenced who found it acceptable to torture and kill animals, have no feelings for harming helpless little creatures and doing it all for money. Additionally, he taught them that this behavior is completely acceptable and worth it so long as you don't get caught! Forgive him? I'd like to see some remorse for his despicable behavior, all the animals who suffered because of him and all the young people he has damaged. Perhaps, he really ought to do something more productive with his life, like dedicating himself to stopping animal cruelty! Then we can talk of forgiveness!

I know the Bible tells us to forgive those that do us harm and we are supposed to forgive, but, quite honestly, I don't think I'll ever be able to forgive Michael Vick for the unspeakable damage he caused those precious pit bulls.

It is not even a matter of forgiving him. It is a matter of he committed unspeakable crimes. He caused pain an sufferin to the innocent for profit. What was his NFL contract, millions of dollars and a reality show. So weather we forgive him matters not. Personally , if I had my way he would get what he gave to those poor innocents!!!

He did not show remorse and I am sorry he got another football contract. We still have a lot of people that need to get in touch with nature and experience the love that animals give.
I am glad that Phoenix has a new home. Animals are so forgiving.

Vick should spend the rest of his life in prison. Anyone capable of hanging, shooting, electrocuting, or drowning dogs is a sadistic bastard. Pure evil.
May karma take care of him.
