Nothing was going to keep this determined mom cat away from her kittens âEUR" not even a beating that nearly killed her.

Late last month, Dee Walton, owner of Australia's Sawyers Gully Animal Rescue, found a missed call on her answering machine. It was from a woman who said she had been feeding a stray cat with kittens in her yard, but her neighbor had killed the mother cat.

"I was informed that the [neighbor] had [the mom] by the tail and threw her up against a trailer," Walton told The Dodo. "I'm assuming until he thought she was dead."

The mother cat's only crime was slinking into the man's yard — and getting caught.

By the time Walton received the message, another rescue group arrived on the scene to collect the 1-week-old kittens.

The mother's body remained where it lay. But the next day, something remarkable happened.

Princess, as she was later named, dragged herself back to the spot where she had left her kittens, using just her front paws. Her back legs were paralyzed from the injuries she sustained from being brutally attacked. "It would have taken her ages to crawl back by her two front paws," Walton said.

But despite the difficulty, nothing was going to stop Princess from being reunited her babies.

Her wish was granted when she was discovered alive and picked up by the local RSPCA, then reunited with her kittens. As it turns out, Princess had a microchip and her original owner was tracked down — and decided to relinquish her and her RSPCA, which in turn gave up the cat family to the pound, since it was unlikely that the paralyzed Princess would a home with her babies, Walton said. After learning their story and discovering their fate, Walton expressed interest in caring for Princess and her babies — and decided to bring the entire family home from the pound.

The cat family now resides at the rescue with Walton. Princess is unfortunately paralyzed for life. She can't urinate or defecate on her own. Since she is a cat with extensive special needs, she'll remain at Sawyers', her new forever home, for the rest of her life.

For now, as her kittens are still quite young, Princess has the comfort of nursing them and raising them until they're old enough to part ways.

I hope that Sawyer's can have a wheelchair from Eddie's Wheels made for Princess and maybe she can go visit her kittens...or have her kittens come visit her. I can't stand it for animal families to be split up...

I cant understand why people are so mean and to innocent creatures, why did this man have to hurt Princess so bad? What did he gain from doing this?

A cautionary tale reminding us to take strays to be checked for a chip and turned over to a rescue. It's upsetting that no one checked on Princess' welfare and she had to crawl back to where her kittens were for help. I hope they throw the book at the brutal neighbor who paralyzed her. A just sentence would be for him to serve time and pay for Princess' medical treatment for the rest of her life. Thanks, Barb.

I heard in Hell there's nothing but depression and unrest. It's a very good thing that I believe in Jesus Christ!

They have a gofundme page that is doing wonderfully! Princess has a forever family who understand her special needs. The 58-year-old "man" was charged with torture, beat and seriously injuring an animal.
He goes to court on June 30. Hopefully with all of this worldwide attention, he will do jail time!

That's so sad. You gotta be one evil prick to paralyze any animal.

Noted with thanks, Barb and disdain and anger toward the perpetrator. Karma should be a prep course for Hell, which is his fate.

Any punishment of the piece of human junk who did this would never be enough. I wish upon him a much worse fate than that which he inflicted upon this innocent being. No mercy for this evil piece of human junk!
