On Day 65 of the spill disaster, as the busted well still belches oil, some hotels and related businesses in the Gulf face a downturn of 70 percent. Some have even shuttered.

No surprise, but still very sad. This is an economic disaster as well as environmental.

Thanks Kemsa.

We all should be prepared for worse ahead; things are likely to become worse before they become better.

Gulf beaches aren't the only things to see and visit down here. There's plenty else to do, so come on down. BTW, kudos to whoever put together those daily TV ads for Fort Myers/Sanibel beaches in FL.

The best way to help the people is by being a tourist at this point. Unfortunately no one's got any $$$ to go on vacation.

What's the point of electing a Government if it can do nothing? However, a frightening scenario is that they really want to do nothing!

I'm gonna guesstimate we'll be about 2 to 3 generations out before this 'bounces' back.
