Terrible. It is not clear whether this Tsunami will travel elsewhere and whether other places need to prepare.

Such a helpless feeling to watch the devastation and continued aftershocks; would we be as prepared as the Japanese were if & when this happens to us? My prayers and thoughts are with the people of Japan.

Must be awful to experience this. Island country vulnerable from all direction. Water is the most destructive of natural forces- beyond earthquakes, tornados, firestorms, etc.
HSUS is taking donations to help the animals that are probably stranded, lost their owners. Maybe some good from this-will give earth scientists information/ more info on retrofitting structures.. hopefully this will stop whaling for awhile as the country recovers and concentrates on essentials and not on obtaining gourmet whale/dolphin meat.

Technology is so wonderful in that we can see, hear and act so quickly to our brothers and sisters in peril.
Wonder though if this same could have given these folk as per Christchurch in NZ more warning?
As I lay in my bed I wept for you all. My heart aches for your family and friends and all those animals.
The repocussions of pollution to be cleaned up will last for years.
Human loss unreplaceable. God Bless you all!

This is terrible. We heard last night that there were 2 Tsunamis after eachother and that New Clear factors were damaged. I think at least 3 or 4 of them. It was here at 5 pm I don't know what time it would make that in America. All I know is that it's terrible. Forst our floods, then the NZ quake and now Japan again. They had a quake last year as well.

My mind is reeling from all the natural disasters we have seen recently. Massive floods in Australia, an earthquake in NZ, now a huge one in Japan. What next?

I sometimes wonder if similiar things have happened before, but we didn't have the media we have now, to report on it.

Scary and devastating.
We must recognize that there is nothing to do against the force of nature,
and in these moments, the man becomes very small. The only thing to do is to pray for those affected to have their suffering minimized.

Our hearts go out to these people but yes, the forces of nature - do we ever contemplate the effect our devastating actions might have on Planet Earth?? Just very thankful for the technology available to forecast and pre-warn human and animal kingdoms to take shelter if at all possible. It will take many a year to restore the affected area of the island to some kind of normality.
