Faced with shortages of death-penalty drugs, states for the past few years have explored more "creative" solutions to kill people. And now one Wyoming lawmaker is advocating for the return of the firing squad in his state.

WHAT?!?!
i was discussing this yesterday with a doctor, mainly about the new drug they were considering using which stops the breathing while the person is still fully conscience.
We JOKED that this being in the US, a firing squad would very likely be considered!

Outrageous - but there certainly enough guns for a firing squad. These drugs can end up being a danger, as those with big money may be able to obtain them. In my opinion jail for life with no parole is the better solution.
Thanks Carrie.

I can't comprehend a "civilized" country carrying out such barbaric murders in the name of justice. It's insane. Thank you for spreading the news!

Unfortunately, "civilized" only applies to the USA in its broadest sense - yeah, we drive cars, but we commit hate crimes, genocide, and questionable wars - as well as allow the destruction of environment/planet for profit.

In this context, firing squads might be considered (by some) a reasonable solution

NO MORE!!!

Whether it is done by lethal injection or a firing squad, an execution will always be state condoned murder. Considering the love Americans have for guns, it seems more fitting to put the condemned in front of a squad and show the killing for the horrific and brutal thing it really is.

Abolish the death penalty. Everywhere.

Wonder if the NRA will back this one...no shortage of guns, ammo, or very probably volunteers...especially when you consider all those volunteering to kill wildlife.

All part of the "wild west" mentality making a full resurrection here in the US of A. We are just a step away from the return of public hangings. Pack the lunches, get on the buckboards, and go into town and have entertainment while one eats.

Goes along with the other mentality that is springing it's ugly head up all over the place, you know, talk of the poor houses being brought back......oh yes, that is the prison industrial complex, a do away with the child labor laws......so nice when you could have the kids start earning a wage at age 7 in a coal mine or textile mill; we'll give those other children a run for their money in other countries that work for peanuts. Keep chipping at all of the women's rights, those darn women with their big mouths, how dare they want their children in school and their bread and roses too.

This would be like some sad dark comedy if I wasn't living here and watching 150 years of our ancestors toil and efforts being washed down the drain. The so called good ole' days were not good for everyone at least not as far back as the Oligarchy and the Plutocrats would like us to go. Shame they got a bunch of the masses to really believe that it's for their best interest to follow their sinister plan.

Noted. Thanks, Carrie. Dandelion's comment was excellent. To expand a bit into the "Sci-Fi" realm---is this really where we want to head?....to one day flip on the TV or internet and grab the popcorn for a Pay Per View execution chosen by clicking on a multiple choice method of how the majority of voters would like the subject to be executed?!....and then watch it take place! The direction that GOP politicians want to take America is back to the Dark Ages, with a futuristic twist to make it "palatable" for the general public. If we don't call out these evil methods now, and push very strongly to end the death penalty, I'm afraid this is what we will have.
