Toil, abuse and endurance in the heartland. For decades, dozens of men with intellectual disability lived in an old schoolhouse and worked in a turkey plant. No one knew just what they endured.

This is so sad. I was dumbfounded when I read this and watched the documentary. Those poor men had no life and it hurts me to think about it.

What happened to them is disgusting. Greedy people taking advantage. I am sorry they came to this, but am happy that they are now free.

I stopped crying now. This is unforgivable to take all these years away from these men, abuse, used and name calling, taking so much of their pay (stealing from them I feel). let alone have them living in such unsanitary conditions. All because they had disabilities. The people of Atalissa never paid any attention or they would have known something was not right.I am very happy for them, that now they are free, but all that time took it's toll on their health, and they are now seniors, mostly with no relatives. At least they live with one or two others of the men, in nice homes, where they can enjoy the outdoors. have television and can eat without the cockroaches falling from the ceilings. I hope any owners of this Turkey Ranch rot in Hell for what they have done. Thank God they were saved!! Thank You Carrie for the article and video. It really is hard to realize there are still places like this!!
