Lawmakers were briefed Monday in Beijing by the head of the country's food and drug administration about draft revisions to strengthen China's food safety laws.

The Chinese are coming of age where food safety is concerned. But make no mistake, this is probably for internal use only, countries importing Chinese food need to make sure that the food is up to their own standards.
