As the mainly elderly Jewish congregation filed out of the synagogue after Shabbat prayers, a group of young Muslims, many of them teenage girls wearing headscarves, formed a symbolic ring outside the building to roaring applause from a crowd.

Thank you for this wonderful article, Carrie. We can't have enough of these articles that show that Muslims can link with Jews and together stand up against extremist hate. It is happening all over Europe - I've seen it happening here in The Netherlands too - but right wing media are loath to report on it. So thank you, for doing your bit.

This is what freedom of religion should look like.
This is what 'love your neighbour' should look like.

2 + 2 = 5 Really!

I so agree with you Sheryl . . . this needs to be done worldwide and not just between Muslims and Jews, but everyone.

YAY! Norway people rock! We need more of this attitude here in Germany, where people are still judged on their religions... Religions are OK as far a i´m concerned, as long as the religious people remain respectful of other´s belief.

In Norway we have something called The Kardemomme Law:

One should not bother or harm others,
One should be good and kind,
And otherwise one can do whatever one wishes.

This comes as a guideline for authentic expression of feeling and a Norwegian musical for children written by Torbjørn Egner.

Even if it was written for children most Norwegians see this as a law just as important as the Constitution. If people and politicians around the world took this law to their hearts I believe the world would be a very pleasant place to live in.

Peace-ring hoax, I quote:

Media Hoax: 20 Muslims Holding Hands Become 1,000-Strong ‘Ring of Peace’ at Oslo Synagogue
Update 2/23/15: Oslo Synagogue “Muslim Peace Ring” Organizer: Jews Were Behind 9/11, Mumbai Terror Attack by Patrick Poole at PJ Media

Breitbart, by JORDAN SCHACHTEL, Feb. 22, 2015:

The weekend’s feel-good story about a Muslim “ring of peace” formed to “protect” Jews at an Oslo synagogue turned out to be a complete fabrication by the mainstream media, according to an eyewitness report, local officials, and attendees’ photos.

According to a local eyewitness, only about 20or so Muslims formed the “ring of peace” around the Oslo synagogue. In fact, pictures from multiple angles show that there wasn’t enough people to form a ring, so the locals instead formed a horizontal line in front of the synagogue.

A local news outlet explained how the media got to its “1,300 Muslims” number. “According to police, there were 1300 persons present in the event. Very many of them ethnic Norwegians,” read a translated report from Osloby.no.

Demonstrators also reportedly chanted, “No to anti-Semitism, no to Islamophobia,” conflating criticism of Islam and hatred of Jews.

Photos pulled off of social media appear to corroborate the narrative that only twenty or so people formed the “peace ring.”

Multiple news outlets, including wire services for hundreds of news sites, ran with the false narrative that 1,000 or more people–sometimes all of them Muslim–formed the ring of peace outside of the Oslo synagogue.

The AP incorrectly reported, “More than 1,000 people have formed a ‘ring of peace’ outside Oslo’s main synagogue at the initiative of a group of young Muslims.”

AFP reports almost identically, “More than 1,000 people formed a ‘ring of peace’ Saturday outside Oslo’s main synagogue at the initiative of a group of young Muslims. The newswire agency has no excuse for the false report, as it had a photographer taking shots of the “ring” at the scene–and one shows a man who appears to be at the end of the line of hand-holders, with his left hand in his pocket.

The far-left Think Progress site published a story titled, “More Than A Thousand Muslims Form Human Shield Around Norewegian Synagogue After Copenhagen Attacks.”

Even Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported, “More than 1,000 Muslims formed a human shield around an Oslo synagogue on February 21, offering symbolic protection for the city’s Jewish community and condemning an attack on a synagogue in neighboring Denmark the previous weekend.”

In even worse news, it appears as if the organizer of the Muslim “peace ring” is a virulent anti-Semite, 9/11 truther, a gay-basher, and an Israel-hater.

Ali Chishti, who organized the event, said bluntly in 2008, “I hate Jews and how they operate,” reports Daniel Greenfield. Chishti…..

Sorry to disappoint Alexa, but the only hoax is your misinformation. The right-wing media is the only place you can find any mention of this so called hoax. They ~ like you ~ can't stand any positive news about Muslims.

Apology accepted Carrie .. A lie is a lie .. There were not a 1000 or more muslims forming this peace-ring ..

Breitbart?? Went there and looked a bit... there's also an article saying that climate change is a hoax...

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/02/22/1366149/-Inspiring-images-of-over-1000-Muslims-forming-ring-of-peace-around-Oslo-synagogue?detail=email#

I would not take anything serious from Breitbart... he's as bad as Rush Limbaugh.

Alexa R (319)

Is that the best you can do Carol R? Attack the messenger because you cannot defend the hoax?

The truth has a habit of coming out, Carol, even if a feel-good-hoax has travelled half-way around the world before the truth even managed to get its boots on .. The photos do indeed clearly give away that it's impossible to have been over a 1000 muslims in the peace-ring ..

Carol R (11)
Tuesday February 24, 2015, 6:48 am
Alexa, I gave an example of what else Breitbart had on their site. It was my opinion about the source so if you want to call it an attack on the messanger, by all means. I've seen other people post Breitbart articles on FB.... to prove their opinion that Obama is a Muslim, born in Kenya, will allow all the terrorists to come to America because he wants to implement sharia law, etc. because Breitbart SAID he was. So no, I don't have a lot of respect for Breitbart.
You have a right to believe what Breitbart posts... I have a right NOT to believe what I think is a right wing conspiracy site.

Alexa R (319)
Tuesday February 24, 2015, 8:26 am
Carol R, you prove my point exactly .. You continue your attack of Breitbart, the author of this article I posted is Jordan Schachtel.

The photos prove that this author, Jordan Schachtel is telling the truth: there is no way there were over a 1000 muslims forming a peace-ring around the Oslo synagogue .. This is the truth from evidence and photos no matter which conspiracy theory you subscribe to regards Breitbart ..

No matter how many attacks you launch against the messengers .. Truth is truth and for any who wishes to examine the evidence and look at the photos, the truth is crystal clear ..

Your attacks and conspiracy theories about Breitbart only make you look illogical and untruthful .. No wonder you've no respect for truth ..

Oh Alexa, read what I said again... maybe I should have spelled it out more clearly for you??.

"example of what else Breitbart had on their site."
"other people post Breitbart articles on FB.."

I didn't say breitbart was the actual author, you silly goose.

And it seems you're the one launching personal attacks where as I was giving my opinion on the breitbart site. I did say you have a right to believe what's posted there and I have a right to NOT believe what's posted there.

No one has the right to make up their own facts Carol R, no matter how I many times you attack me for telling the truth ..

There were NOT.over 1000 muslims forming a peace-ring around the Oslo synagogue, even when looking at the photos taken by your 'approved' leftie propaganda ..

Carrie B (306)
Tuesday February 24, 2015, 10:20 pm
Alexa, if you would read the article you see that the crowd watching and applauding the Muslims protecting the Jews was over 1000 people. You just don't get it!

Alleluia! Finally you and your approved leftie propaganda had to update your misinformation and admit that there were not over 1000 muslims forming a peace-ring around the Oslo synagogue ..

Alleluia .. I did not have to endure the personal attacks for nothing .. Truth has been triumphant, there were NOT over 1000 muslims forming a peace-ring around the Oslo synagogue as were claimed by your 'approved' leftie propaganda since the weekend ..

Alexa, bravo! They'll argue you into the ground to the point of foolishness just so as not to have admit they're wrong. Attack you, attack your sources, anything.
If they said HaYarkon was just paved over with solid gold bricks, and you had the audacity to say no it wasnt, they would call you a liar and ask you how would you know???

Carrie, the only ones 'MAKING UP .. FACTS' are you, Carol R, and your leftie 'approved' sources, I quote from your leftie approved sources who have not yet updated their original story to the truth:

(AFP) - More than 1000 Muslims formed a symbolic ‘human shield’ around the synagogue

(Metro) - More than 1000 Muslims formed a human shield around a synagogue in Oslo today as they offered symbolic protection to the Jewish community in the wake of an attack on a Danish synagogue.

(Reuters) - More than 1000 Muslims formed a human shield around Oslo's synagogue on Saturday, offering symbolic protection for the city's Jewish community and condemning an attack on a synagogue in neighboring Denmark last weekend.

(Haaretz) - More than 1,000 Muslims joined together outside of Oslo, Norway’s main synagogue on Saturday and formed a “peace ring” around the building.

As you say Barbara, if they cannot argue with the truth, they attack my sources or me .. What they seem to assume, is that I too have a 'list of approved sources', but I don't. I read any source, whether 'leftie' or 'rightie'. I don't just 'rubbish' the truth simply because it was 'said' by an 'unapproved' source ..

This is rather entertaining, I do agree .. The lengths some people would go to when not wishing to admit the truth ..
