Medicare turns 50 next week. It was signed into law July 30,1965 ~ the crowning achievement of Lyndon Johnson's Great Society. It's more popular than ever. Yet Medicare continues to be blamed for America's present and future budget problems. That's baloney

Is Medicare the equivalent of the UK's National Health Service, which is free at the point of use to anyone who lives in Britain?

one last note..something that can be taken care of by an easier and cheaper solution is chronic pain, yet it is not offered, because it doesn't bring in money! Greed is so often the problem. what is wrong with this country? makes my stomach turn. The ones in charge are not affected because they have no feelings.

perhaps it needs a reconstruction. prevention and proactive practice on health to keep people healthy will reduce a huge cost. next, i think of alternative medicine which will take care of a disease at the cause, while the modern medicine often take care much at the symptoms: like oh you get headache? then take pain killer. the alternative med will also safe money much since many diseases can be cured without any pills nor expensive diagnose at all. finally i hope you shall always have a better FREE health care program like NHS in the UK.

FREE EDUCATION AND HEALTH CARE FOR ALL

thank you Carrie, petition previously signed, thank you too Dandelion

The people with the power to legislate changes in Medicare (senators and representatives) don't care about people who don't have good health coverage (i.e., without jobs) because they have good health coverage (i.e., they have a job) and no one else matters. Am I being cynical? Perhaps a little, but there's a little more truth to it than anyone would like to believe.

You need a Universal Healthcare system like we have in Europe.
