JDL is the acronym for the Jewish Defense League, which was founded by the right-wing settler Meir Kahane. Kahane founded Kach ~ an organization so racist and extreme that even in Israel it was outlawed and classified as a terrorist group.

Someday, I hope, the issue of tribalism will disappear fro the human consciousness. Extremism sucks!

I'm very sorry to hear of the death of Hashem al-Azzeh, certainly not directly killed by Jewish settlers, but as the result of the years of illegal occupation and settlement in the Hebron area. If the ambulance had been allowed to use the roads in Hebron now reserved for Jewish drivers only (?) and could have picked him up from his house instead of the time consuming trip to the nearest checkpoint, carried by his neighbors, breathing in the teargas while they were made to wait at the checkpoint for 10 minutes, al-Azzeh might have survived his heart attack.

No one in the article is accusing the Israelis of being responsible for al-Azzeh's death, but the story of his life in Hebron as a Palestinian who spoke out against the occupation and the harassment of the settlers literally above him, and the circumstances of his death give a shocking insight in the daily life and struggle of Palestinians on the West-Bank. I hope the story of his life's struggle and death will help open up the eyes of the international community further. May he rest in peace.

why shouldn't Israel be held accountable for his death it's their racist policies that killed him

Tribalism, extremism, et al, will not disappear from the human psyche, until humanity wakes up and grows up, and there's been little evidence of that ever happening.

I read this in disbelief.
Gas the Arabs. It rings a bell ..... as loud as it did during WWII.
Will there never be a lesson taught? I am truly saddened that people can think and act like this.
