Khizar Khan now appeals to Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan, whom he both calls patriotic, very decent Republicans, to repudiate Trump. They haven't done so before, in fact they have endorsed Trump like so many of the Republican elite and made it impossible for delegates to vote according to their conscience, and it's very doubtful they are going to do so now. What does that say about the Senate Majority Leader and the Speaker of the House, what does that say about the GOP in general? I'm afraid that Mr. Khan is in for another big disappointment when he learns that the GOP rather unites behind the destructionist called Trump than accept defeat and another Democrat in the White House.

Noted. Thanks, Carrie.
I agree with Lona's comment. While many Republicans repudiate him, they continue to state that they'll vote for him. And though it appears there are many in the GOP who are still on the fence, I believe they will fall in line as Big Donors like the Kochs will financially support his campaign. Will have to stay tuned.....

Mr. Khan says what millions of other Americans should be saying. Anyone who would mock him or denigrate him because he is a Muslim should be "shunned". I wish him luck with McConnell and Ryan, they don't have enough brains and too much hubris to listen to someone who knows what is right.

Mr. Khan, along with your son, you have become my hero. I just saw you on Jake Tapper's show delivering your message. I cannot thank you enough for your bravery. Your son stood up to guns but you are sending up to a maniacal man who will tear our country apart. How can I thank you enough? God bless you and your dear wife.

Mr. and Mrs. Khan and their brave deceased son have been true to the spirit of the U.S.A. and it's Constitution. They are fine citizens, unlike Trump who is looking more and more like a traitor in cahoots with Putin and his ilk. When Trump was asked by George Stephanopoulos what he had sacrificed in responde to Khan's searing charge that Trump had “sacrificed nothing” for his country, Trump claimed he had sacrificed by employing “thousands and thousands of people.” Trump also took a low blow suggesting that Mrs. Khan didn’t speak because she was forbidden. In a later interview with the Khan's she explained that it was too emotional for her to do so. Further to Trump's assertions that he has sacrificed he stated that he "works very very hard", but he failed to mention how well he is compensated for doing so, although he did say that he'd had "a lot of success". Where I wonder is there any sacrifice in any of that? Paul Rieckoff, the founder and CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, a non partisan group with close to 200,000 members, called Trump's comparison of his sacrifices with those of someone like Khan "insulting, foolish and ignorant."

Let me add that neither Trump, nor his sons have served in the military but that should not be interpreted as them being pacifists. Trump himself actively avoided the draft during the Vietnam War. Rather than clear up the questions about why he did not serve in the military during the Vietnam era, he has given shifting accounts that are at odds with the few remaining documents in his Selective Service file. Like father like sons; instead of going into the service of their country the Trump boys travelled to Africa where they posed for photos with the dead carcasses of an elephant, kudu, civet cat and waterbuck they killed for sport while on a trophy hunt in Zimbabwe last year. In one photo, Donald Jr. proudly holds a dead elephant tail in one hand and a knife in the other. In another, the brothers are seen standing beside a 12'8" crocodile hanging from a noose off a tree. What a bunch of pusillanimous bungholes these Trump men are.
