SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -
Ford Europe has unveiled a prototype for its noise-canceling dog kennel, which claims to block out excessively loud sounds like thunder or fireworks.

In a blog post earlier this month, Ford described the kennel as "the first in a series of initiatives that applies automotive know-how to help solve everyday problems."

Ford said it applied its "Active Noise Control system," which is currently employed in its Ford Edge.

Like the Edge, the kennel is equipped with microphones able to detect sounds, then emitting opposing frequencies that significantly reduce the amount of noise let into the kennel, if not fully canceling it, according to the blog post.

"The result? No more stress for your pet," the blog stated. "A concept for now, but with the potential to mean a much better start to the year, both for your dog – and for you."

While the kennel isn't on the market just yet, you can check out the video of the prototype above.

A great invention.Until they reach the market it's imperative that dogs be kept indoors on our cracker nights. The noise and flashes in the sky puts them in a state of terror..

Many animals find fireworks scary – and compared to people, dogs can hear things that are four times further away, and across a much wider range of frequencies," said Graeme Hall, a UK dog trainer known as The Dogfather.

"Preparing in advance of firework displays is the key – and part of that is to identify a place where your pets feel safe and happy.
