Though the public hasn't groked it yet, WalMart and its kindred malignant organisms have entered their own yeast-overgrowth death spiral. In a now permanently contracting economy the big box model fails spectacularly. Every element of economic reality...

Thank you for this interesting article Nancy. I think the end of the bib box stores would be great, and slowly we will get the smaller stores like we used to have. Also a lot of smaller towns would be revitalized.
Down with these Conglomerates.

Thanks for posting. I avoid Wal Mart and K Mart when I can. However, when Wal Mart came to town it killed most of the small businesses, and in a rural area, it is the only place you can find some necessities. I hate the way they treat their employees and ride rough shod over the communities they inhabit.

Thanks Nancy - I try to avoid big firms - but there are times when one has to go there, sadly. Green star Edith - I do agree.

Yes, Walmart and the others suck but for some (like me) who are on a very tight and small budget (disability) sometimes we are forced to shop where the prices are lower. Damn them for doing this to the small local businesses where you actually got service and people knew you by name. Big box store' motto is - Get them in, get their money, get them out. So sad that it has come down to this. Thanks for the article Nancy!
