For its own security, the U.S. needs to set aside traditional nuclear deterrence theory, which isn't working, and be the mature party seeking a de-escalation of the crisis. The U.S. should immediately cease its nuclear threats to North Korea and concrete-

I agree it is up to the US to be the more mature country and talk sensibly rather than react to rants and raves.
We don't need more war--we need sane discussion--which seems far beyond many politicians in Washington.
Thanks Nancy.

It is very hard if not impossible to speak rationally or logically to a short little runt with delusions of grandeur and megalomania. I am very much against war but in dealing with North Korea, we must walk and talk softly but carry a BIG STICK! That is all that imbecile and his acolytes will understand.

While I don't approve of nuclear war, I'm not sore a 150 megaton bomb over Pyongyang would be altogher a bad thing. JK of course. However the death of every politician and military officer would be a good thing.

Echoes of Neville Chamberlain. Appeasing North Korea will only make the situation worse.

What pure BS! I really hate liars and considering that the USA, even under W Bush, has never threatened NK with the use of nuclear weapons. And as usual the USA is being the adult in the room but not with a child with a sociopathic egomaniac Dictator with his own army and nuclear weapons. Giving Un anything that even remotely can be perceived as success for this current round of saber rattling will only lead to more and more dangerous escalations in the belligerent militarism. And to be blunt Un reminds me of the Cowboy preemptive war George W. Bush and John McCain singing , "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran". Any actions from the USA or the UN that even have the appearance of appeasement or capitulation will encourage UN to ramp up the escalation to get more of what he wants.

I'm a 60's anti-war, peace and love old lady but living in an unrealistic frame of mind that you can have an intelligent conversation or compromise with a totally deluded, arrogant little dictator set on war mongering and bent on a self-satisfying ego trip is not in the cards. You don't give in to a spoiled rotten, fit throwing child, you take control of the situation and set the rules.
