In spite of the treaties, in spite of solemn exchanges of land for promises of food, health, education and security, the federal government considers keeping these promises a matter of "discretionary" spending.

By not inviting Indian representatives at last month's Native American Council meeting, how much support is this administration giving them?

It's always the women, children and the Native Americans who get the short end of everything. Shameful.
Noted with thanks.

America and Australia Governments are EXACTLY alike when it comes to situations regarding the original keepers of the lands. The Dominant Society wanted to 'civilise' the natives of both countries but obviously didn't look toward the future. IT ISN'T EASY NOR FREE TO CHANGE THE ENTIRE WAY OF LIFE FOR PEOPLE. It can't be done in a few years either. Imagine if a country came and took over the place where we live. Go on, imagine it! How would you feel? What would you do? The money system has changed and so has the language and style of dress, even our homes would have to change. It could NOT be done quickly and naturally people would disagree with the change therefore they rebel.
Well this is how the Australian and American Natives were treated PLUS they had their babies stolen, many never to see them again. Women were raped and treated like objects and this STILL happens. There is way more information on this subject but I'll let you research if you choose to. Dominant Society EVERYWHERE needs to show RESPECT, ACCEPTANCE and UNDERSTANDING towards the ORIGINAL KEEPERS of the LAND.

What a bunch of hypocrits throughout the world. "Founded" & Stolen land & more from local Natives, were these countries even lost in the first place! Confined them to reservations, discriminated & still do so currently against them for just about everything based on their colour etc. Aborigines, The indians etc. Raise this issue & everyone gets a wedgy but words arent enough. Its time to tell your governments that you have voted in for your benefits to DO THE RIGHT THING!!Give them the right to live, work, play & have the same equal chances that you robbed them of. Many white South Africans scrammed to other coutries where they benefit at the cost of these helpless locals to keep their white behinds in a superior position when Apartheid fell in 1994. They did not want to associate with people of other colours. White skin does not mean you are brighter tor better than anyone else! Change in your coutries are long, long overdue you all were screaming at SA to do away with Apartheid but you are doing the same if not worse to the people in your own countries. These original inhabitants are treated like crap bcos of YOUR doing, voting 4 a gov who is for whites only! The only thing missing is the term "Apartheid".

Screwed once again ... a treasure wasted, knowledge of the land, stewardship unsurpassed. The longer America is, the dumber it gets. Sad for all ...

Very sad but predictable situation. This is just further proof that promises are kept to no one but the corporate masters. They continue to get their corporate welfare --no matter who has to pay for it. Thanks for posting this, Nancy.
