Incredible. Komen has really stepped in it this time. William Rivers Pitt just wrote an excellent commentary, "Fracking for the Cure:"

Because People like you guys, on Care2, had "a few issues with Komen", and EXPRESSED them to Care2, C2 has CHANGED ITS RECIPIENT FOR CLICKS FOR BREAST CANCER.
NO LONGER going to the Susan B. Komen fund [which has lost a lot of support, since some of their fund-raising was revealed to be not-quite-what-it-looked-like].
Here is where your clicks are going NOW. Please remember to Click-to-donate Each Day!

In just a generation we've witnessed a 40-percent increase in incidents of breast cancer. With more scientific evidence emerging practically daily, it's clear that our exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation are connected to our breast cancer risk, making the prioritization of prevention critical. We know that most people diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of the disease, and that exposure to toxic chemicals in our air, water and everyday products play an important role in increasing risk.

about the Breast Cancer Fund

While there is great public awareness of breast cancer with pink ribbons covering everything from makeup bottles to fracking drills the emphasis has been on screening, treatment and searches for a cure. The Breast Cancer Fund is working to change that through prevention: to changing the odds so that far fewer people will ever have to experience this disease in the first place. Their mission is to PREVENT breast cancer by eliminating exposures to toxic chemicals and radiation linked to the disease.

how your clicks turn into donations

Our advertisers sponsor this site and make your donations to the Breast Cancer Fund possible. Every day that you click, you are generating a true cash donation. Care2 guarantees every daily click-through to the 'Thank You' / Sponsor page will generate a donation of $0.50 CPM from the advertisers. You can show your support for our advertisers by clicking on their ads. Care2 pools all of the daily donations and delivers these funds to the Breast Cancer Fund on a regular basis.

how your clicks help prevent breast cancer

The Breast Cancer Fund works to prevent breast cancer, and donations are used to implement real change: seventy-eight percent of the organization's income goes directly to programmatic work. Here's a snapshot of that work:
. Demanding cosmetics without cancer Cancer-causing chemicals are present in many different types and brands of cosmetics and personal care products found on store shelves across America. Our Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is working to get the world's multinational cosmetics giants to stop using chemicals identified as carcinogens in cosmetics and personal care products. Learn more.
. Putting breast cancer out of work & protecting firefighters The Breast Cancer Fund is working with scientists, advocates and female firefighters on a study of exposure to chemicals linked to breast cancer. Cancer rates among firefighters across the country have risen dramatically, and results from this study are expected to help make fighting fires safer.
. Keeping toxic chemicals out of our bodies and our food Modern food production methods have opened major avenues of exposure to environmental carcinogens and endocrine-disrupting compounds. Pesticides sprayed on crops, antibiotics used on poultry, and hormones given to cattle expose consumers involuntarily to contaminants that become part of our bodies.
The Breast Cancer Fund is working to pass laws that protect consumers and build consumer demand for safer products.
