Analysis of four ancient genomes from Ireland has uncovered their ancestry is the result of a 'genetic shift', caused by an increase in farming and metal work in the region.

Thanks, Nancy, this was very interesting to me since I am about 3/4 Irish descent. Add a little Scot and Cherokee Indian, and I am an American. My grandmother always told me that I was Black Irish because I had black hair and blue eyes.

Interesting.

My Mother also told me, Edith, that we were of the Black Irish, due to the fact of the dark hair and dark eyes. lol Her Father's line was all Irish and came over in the famine that is mentioned in the article I"ve placed below. My Mother's Mother, however was American Indian and my Paternal side Dad's Father was English and my Father's Mother was Irish/American Indian. I never heard her use the term Black Irish she just said she had Irish ancestry.

As this article brought up that point I looked up an article concerning the "Black Irish" and found there are more questions than answers concerning this passed down distinction. I"ll leave it below for those who would like to read it.
Who Were The Black Irish And What Is Their Story

DNA studies are truly opening up more to us with the studies that are taking place. What I think it all leads back to is we are all as One in the final equation, distant brothers and sisters, so we need to learn to get on in better ways with each other. When we war with another it is warring with ourselves and we've learned in many ways this to be true......no matter what side one finds themselves on......there is always a penalty or a negative for having engaged in such behaviour.

It doesn't surprise me because I have always found traditional Irish dance similar to flamico dance which was probably created by gypsies who are probably Egyptian. We entered the DNA project from National Geographic and IBM called the Genographic Project. You would be surprised to find out where you genes come from.

Interesting, indeed!
It is such a shame that we have been going around for centuries killing each other over old tribal differences, when we are all one family, originally from Africa.

Ty Nancy. Noted. Truth. Those who have particularly "Black Irish" blood, may like the movie, "The Secret Of Roan Innish". You'll see why, in re the "Silkie" and it's relation to them. The girl who stars, looks much like my deceased daughter, Tavi. It's enchanting, mesmerizing, soulful, spiritual. I too have roots of Irish, Scottish, Micmac Indian, French, Danish, English. For sure they're blended with Asian and who knows? We're all Rainbows.---"Kaleidoscope Kids".
