No high government official as of yet has stuck his or her neck out to make an official announcement about the catastrophic implications regarding NASA's standing Solar Storm Warning for 2012-2013, as to allow the global population to begin preparing.

We in the USA are in such deep-deep trouble, because if the economy doesn't take us out first, then the solar storms could most likely take-out the rest!!!!

Who is this Alexei Dmitriev ???? He is supposed to be "award winning". very strange then that the only references to him on the net are about this subject on a load of equally dodgy sites. Strange, hey?

The source site spelled this Russian astrophysicist's name wrong ... it is spelled:

Alexei Dmitriev aka: A.V. Dmitriev:

Another y2k event maybe? The whole Dec.21 2012 thing certainly is the grandaddy. With the list of all the Armageddon events coming at us if you buy into it, we're in deep DO DO. I don't know about you but I'm more than a little tired of all this fear mongering. Just keep this in mind, in the buzz that passes off as the communication grid in our society, as the jingle goes Crap is King.

If we're going into a couple thousand years of this stuff, then whatever we do is irrelevant anyway. It's more likely the big bubble created by our Solar Wind will brush most of the 'cloud' aside and all we'll see is a slightly higher radiation dose for space travellers, maybe brighter auroras, and some additional climate fluctuations - like what we already see. Maybe the 'global climate destabilisation' we're already in is due to extrasolar effects instead of idiots like Al Gore and Michael Moore getting everyone annoyed and heated up.

For fun, read Larry Niven's 'Inconstant Moon'. We may have already had this kind of extrasolar weather; most major religious records record a 'deluge' with rather wild weather patterns between 4000 and 10000 years ago. Did we pass through another 'space cloud'? It seems that things got somewhat back on track afterwards...

There is little point in getting everyone up-tight if there is no preparation possible.

Okay maybe we're all gonna fry when this solar storm hits, but you know what? I still ain't sending all my money to Harold Camping or anyone else like him. 'Cause if that solar storm misses, I'm gonna need that money, and I've never heard of any religious organization giving refunds if they're wrong about when the world ends.

i cannot but imagine the worst of the worse scenario. why is it that nobody is warning us about it? whether it is real or not, we should all do something about it. it's time to act now!

perhaps this could be related to the Dec 21st 2012 alignment event ? It never hurts to take a class on home canning or food preserving, and my advice would be to utilize small community groups (like the Senior Centers)
to ask for classes from the elders that had to preserve eggs in WW2 with Isinglass (spelling ?) Buy flour & yeast & learn how to make bread in a solar oven !!!! We don't have a hand pump for water yet, but its' on the list.....

Heavens to Betsy.....what next. If it lasts for over 1,000 years, there wouldn't be any water left anyway. Guess this is why all the rich people are investing in those shelters built into the earth. All the poor will be left to starve and die. Well it will take away some other worries like worry about what to invest in next and world population boom. I'm always prepared for a week or so without food, water and electricity but most of us could not prepare for something like this......unless one was very, very rich.

it will save me money that would have gone for my cremation. Could buy some champagne, get in a lounge chair and wait to become toast. In 100 years from now, every one alive now will be dead, and there will be all new people.

Ah, back to burning witches, but this time we are all witches. By the way, what is the noun for male witches?
Whatever happens, this time, we are all in it. Even Murdoch and cronies. And they are seriously entitled to be in the middle of whatever is going to happen to all of us, and money and power will not help. Tough s.....t!

'Witch' is a term supposedly derived from a word for 'poisoner' in some ancient language. I consider it erroneous and obsolete for people who are mostly into healing or environmental activities and most of whom have taken an oath similar to Hippocratic not to do harm with their Craft. If these 'maho users' stick to safe harmless 'spells' I have nothing against them, only taking offence at the rare pervert who tries to slip a nuisance neighbour castor beans or some other such hostile act. If the women 'witches' make good midwives or battlefield/firstaid healers, more power to them!

As to our solar system's wandering through the mists of the Milkyway galaxy, it's there and we can't do much about it, we don't even have generation-ship interstellar travel much less something we could escape the area of the cloud with easily. Will we do as Asimov's insectile race did and take to The Deep as a species?

As far as I'm concerned the end of the world is when I die, whenever and whatever causes it it's still the end for me. There is really nothing we can do about a worldwide catastrophe as any efforts we attempt would be like an ant lifting the Empire state building.

this is a highly controversial subject, and I find it hard to believe that governments do not have back up plans.
Perhaps it suits them to have a lot of poor people exterminated. Who I knows, I just don't believe anything anymore, because I see a great deal of misinformation being spread - who spreads it and why, well that is something for all of us to think about it.

The best I can do is to be a decent caring human being, meanwhile I will do my best to stop rubbishing and polluting this beautiful planet. It's not how long you live but the quality.
An enslaved nation once said- its better to live an hour as a free man than 40 years of slavery!
