Go green this Halloween! In case you haven't noticed by the thousands of pumpkin flavored foods now available (some being rather questionable). We're excited to dress up for candy and scaring each other! But let's stay environmentally-friendly.

> Five Ways to Stay Sustainable This Halloween
= IDIOTISM writ large
==
"sustainable" is among the most (and increasingly) abused words/catchphrases, these days. Only some WHOLE can be sustainable(*); no single thing can be really sustainable on Eaaarth as long as this our most-uncivil-acting machine-Cult(ure) which calls itself a civilization is destroying the biosphere of this once-nice planet. Everything IS connected. Reductionism is a fallacy, and a dangerous and unsustainable one. Or so it would seem, to me at least.

*) much as only a whole organism can be (reasonably called) healthy (isn't 'health(y)' even etymologically derived from the same root as 'whole' ?); and much as it would be utter idiocy to speak of a healthy left arm or a healthy right foot of a cancer-eaten organism - or this-or-that 'sustainable' thingie within out totally unsustainable matrix.

There's always way to do if one is not short-sighted or selfish

I've been saving and re-planting all pumpkin and other gourd and squash seeds in pots, grown inside on the windowsills, to enjoy some of the Best, freshest possible and most delicious sprouts...EVER! If you have more seeds than pots to put them in, you can store them in your refridgerator up to a couple of months, certainly just for the week and a half it takes to grow the first rounds of sprouts!
