We should start treating all (most?) animals more like persons - I (try to) do so!
Thank you Judy

Interesting thanks. Reminds me of the African Grey Parrot ' Alex' who completely interacted with the female scientist who studied him over a long period of years. Yes, animals DO feel emotions and interact with their human partners.

Je suis certaine qu'ils le sont davantage que bien des hommes.

"You are a human animal. We are a very special breed. Were not the only Animal we can think, who can reason but can read." Member that song? Think we forget we are also animals just as dogs. Changed the last line so it would be realistic.

Very interesting, thanks Judy for sharing this, seems like anyone who has spent time around dogs would have noticed this.

nice to see science confirming hunches/experience of many..when youo think how many different things a sheepdog/guide-dog/police etc can do-and on their own initiative...-it makes sense too..It;s probably in most people to understand-thinking of the deep response of many children(and adults) to talking animals in narnia...

It would be surprising if dogs did not display seemingly human traits because they have been domesticated for thousands of years.I had a dog that I swear knew what I was saying. One instance of this was when I jokingly said to Jackie if you want to go out get your lead.To my great surprise and to the rest of the family he did just that without ever having been taught or having been told to do so by anyone In order to get his lead he had to jump up a good height to get the lead off the hook..After such a long association with humans it's no surprise if these animals are showing signs of evolution. My father inlaw God bless him used to say that the only reason monkeys didn't talk was that if they did we would send them out to work.
