The Female Face Behind the Senate's Bill to Defund Planned Parenthood

Joni Ernst is the public face behind GOP effort in the Senate to defund Planned Parenthood in reaction to the controversial videos released over the past few weeks. But how would this bill, if passed, affect her home state of Iowa?

The Bill to Defund Planned Parenthood would end all federal funding through Title X to Planned Parenthood affiliate clinics nationwide — money specifically restricted from funding abortion services and used for some of the most successful government-funded programs nationwide. Title X is the only federal grant program dedicated solely to providing individuals with comprehensive family planning services and related reproductive health services. Ninety percent of the people Title X serves have incomes below 200 percent of the federal poverty level, and 63 percent are uninsured. Six in 10 women who access health care services from a Title X-funded health center consider this their main source of health care.

Yes, Rose, this is more from the Republican side, the so called "Family Values" they scream about. Shameful lot aren't they.

This is more lunacy from the Right Wing women.....

Michele Bachmann credits Phyllis Schlafly with ending Cold War: In an interview with WND, the queen of the tea party called Schlafly—who has made a long and lucrative career out of telling women they shouldn't have careers—"the epitome of womanhood." But Bachmann the historian went a bit further:

"I believe that Phyllis Schlafly is the most consequential female woman in public policy in the last fifty years of the 20th Century," Bachmann declared.

"Had there not been a Phyllis Schlafly, I believe that we wouldn't have seen a rise of the pro-family movement.

Had there not been a rise of the pro-family movement, I don't believe that there would have been a Ronald Reagan.

Without a President Ronald Reagan, I don't think we would have seen the ability to defeat the evil, and yes that's what it was, Soviet empire and to bring a conclusion to the Cold War.

Just as Ronald Reagan was consequential, Phyllis Schlafly was extremely consequential because she was a tee to tee up this president that we had."

*************And there we have some Tea Party logic in a nutshell and the Pro-family Movement.

Why would any woman be a republican as where in the GOP platform is there anything that remotely seems “pro-women”? FOR the love of heaven we couldn't even get the VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT passed .

Women are only less than 20% represented in DC and less than 25% on a state level. The problem is legislation too and the fact the majority of men voting haven't a great deal of information on women's reproductive issues and haven't attempted to learn anything on a medical standpoint.

We aren't going to get CHANGES unless we elect more women to represent us and support women who are democrats and run for office. We need to get priorities straight-----we have plenty of guns, a bloated military and wars. STILL in 2015 we don't have Universal Healthcare, infrastructure repaired, retirement benefits secured......

Vote for more female democrat to congress and Hillary 2016 to help her friend Liz Warren---Kirsten Gillibrand and get things DONE.

Noted. Thanks, Judy. VERY glad this didn't pass. Why do women like this want to drag us all backwards? Just mind-numbing.

sorry but I've always felt uncomfortable around people who smile and look like they've swallowed a piano , all except the keyboard , that is .

LOL David. I always thought Ernst looked as phony as a $3 bill. She's always ready to plunge a knife into the back of her fellow females, much like our old friend Phyllis Schlafly that Dandelion refers to. As if the Tea Party were Pro-Family! I don't know why any modern woman would want to be a Republican. Look at the prospective candidates. Carly Fiorino is the only one crashing the good ol' boys party.

Thanks for that news, JL. I too am very glad hog-lady and her associates didn't succeed.

She is one messed up nasty piece of work. She thinks it's amusing and acceptable to abuse animals, but doesn't want fetuses to be aborted? Maybe she wants women and unwanted children to suffer like pigs.

Joni Ernst? why am I not surprised!!!!!!!!

If one ever wonders, what kind of woman derails and undermines the advancement of families and women, one need look no further.
