Agroecology is political; it requires us to challenge and transform structures of power in society.'

What this? Old peeples say Hanya orang gila akan memberitahu seorang petani bagaimana bertani. It mean Only a crazy man would tell a farmer how to farm. Farmer know farm. Let him do what he know. Agoreco thing political, farmer no need. Let him farm.

The major problem for me isn't in generating enough food for everyone, so much as dealing with the massive waste of food that is discarded.

So many that spoke in that are clueless. True, Deforestation has to stop, any tree cut down should be replaced with a tree. Nearly all of us in the U.S. are Family Farmers and we all use Min till, very few use conventional tillage anymore, some even use No-till where they can. Without Fertilizer there will be no crop. All Farmers know that Soil Organic matter is their friend and helps retain moisture. We need the proper equipment to get land planted, kept clean of weeds and to harvest as fast as we can as weather allows. There is NO comparison between U.S. Farmers and those of the 3rd world countries where they have little to no pay and always in poverty, so DO NOT EVER ASK THAT OF ANY FARMER IN ANY DEVELOPED NATION. Farmers in the U.S. use on average of 3.5-5 gal of fuel per acre from fertilizing, planting to getting their crop to grain elevator after harvest as well as everything in between. FYI there is no difference in fuel usage whether you plant GMO, NON GMO. Organic has a tendency to have higher fuel usage of another 1-2 gal per acre.
